PLEASE HELP..BF2 won't load!!!

Please help folks,

Jusr purchased BF2 today. Installed nps but when it came to load all I get is the BF2 splash screen, then black screen and then it crashes back to desktop with no ow annoying!!!

I'm running a Pentium4, 1gb RAM, ATI Radeon 9700 256mb graphics card. Don't have a problem runnig HL2, COD2, FM 2007, Rome Total War etc.

I'd appreciate any tech help you guys can give, maybe someone has a contact email addy at EA or a download that could help??

dl the 1.41 patch, its about 5 or 6 hundred mb... you need it to play online in all ranked servers and most unranked

im having the same problem with bf2 i start it but then it just closes...

johng which ati driver do you have ?? is it 7.4??

im installing 7.5 and ill tell you if it works after...

Umm just checking now.......

Version 6.14.10.6414 dated 12/12/2003!! Just had my laptop in for a motherboard replacement and they musn't have updated the drivers lol.

I'll update them all and keep you all posted.

could it be the DX version...cuz maybe we both tried a new game and it updated DX and something there causes problems...
