True, maintaining a good K/D over a long period of time is quite difficult, especially over all kits/vehicles.

I don't know, that's why I considered it "far fetched". It would just be nice to see a system that encouraged players to play ALL aspects of the game. And to encourage the masses, there needs to be some sort of reward, like the only way to get a higher rank is to be proficient in all vehicles/kits, played a min of X amount of hrs in all maps, and have X amount of awards.
But the thing is, padding like that would be utterly pointless if the stats were only weekly :yay:

As for this balancing system, it wouldn't be too hard actually. But it reminds me of statistical maths and I'm not going there :shakehead:

      Wow, fast reply!?!?

Sometimes the stats aren't reported. But look in the patch logs and you'll see what I mean.

But then that would show up as his worst victim with like 40 kills at least and then it will be obvious he padded that round. now if the guy he killed is revived then it does not count toward the victim thing.

          no you didnt
stats will still update even if you leave the server before the end of the round, the only way for them not to show up is for the server to be stopped via crash, admin restarting server or STATS SERVERS BEING DOWN
leaving before the end of the round still counts

that would have been a good idea. but as some1 else sed, that can also be padded, for eg the killing and reviving stat pad can get fake kds

Yes someone could get a higher K/D Ratio but then the other person would have theres lowered alot.

If you based stats on the past week, what would be the point in continually padding?

Just get rid of stats entirely. There really isn't any need for that permanent information, as you can measure your progress by fighting worthy opposition and improving in time.

Exactly my words. Especially the kd keeps many people from doing their job. I've seen so often that medics prefer to attack an enemy rather than reviving the body lying next to him. I've never seen something in et and in the qw beta. Why? Because the don't track you deaths, only kills and other teamwork related points. :)

Re: Why the stats system fails

You think that basing rank on K/D over one week is better than the current system?People would hate that, their precious stats get reset every week. I wouldn't like it.

And it would be easy to pad, if someone revives your buddy as you kill him, he does not get any deaths. Then you can switch who does the killing and who gets killed, and who revives. Within a few rounds everyone can have 100+ K/D's. Noone is getting their stats cut by dying, because they get revived.

Even if it was not padded, leaderboards dissapear (except for cheapo one week leaderboards), people only spawncamp and vehicle whore to increase stats. Blatant TK'ing since the only thing that matters is K/D. Snipers spend hours getting 5 kills and 0 deaths for an infinite K/D. People join a round, get a kill and leave. Now they have infinite K/D as well.

I really like the sound of new stats every week based on K/D.

                      Cheers

Re: Why the stats system fails

Sorry to say this but I have been looking around and my stats have not updated but that is just life one of those things. I have many points that may have been lost or kept to one side (lets hope so) and been reading post from other forums.

EA Madmanx respond to someone post states the following
It aint no easy fix, you think having to go though thousands, if not millions, of lines of code to find the exact problem is easy? If you think it's just that easy of a fix, go work for EA, so you can fix it for them.

EA Voilet respond to the question

Does anyone *know* what the issue is?

There are a lot of people working with this issue. I'm sure that they have some ideas about what might be causing it, but there is a huge investigation underway to pinpoint and verify what *exactly* is causing this. I'm sure they are being very careful and thorough to ensure that the proper fix goes in place and I will tell you as soon as I have any information on what the issue and the fix might be.

Are we going to get our stats back since we have been playing on ranked servers. (I'm assuming on what you meant so I'm sorry if I got this wrong.)

Typically, even if the server is down stats are not lost. I would, at this point, assume that the stat reports still exists, however until we determine exactly why this issue is occuring, I honestly cannot promise either way. This is something that I will report to you as soon as I know either way.

see the link for more details

                        read this on someone post
What do EA and a divorced wife have in comon? They Both hate you and think your a deadbeat worthless scum of the earth but then they love your money.

Guess you have never own your own bussiness have you? How do you think we make money by selling to you

Just leave it how it is.

ANY game and ANY ranking system will get people abusing it, i think it was as near to perfect as it was gonna get before its all messed up.

It's quite obvious that huge number of players care about their stats and the stats system, like me . So demanding the stat system to be blown away isn't simple nor considered to be "best for the game" to huge number of players.

If stats were eliminated, I'd probably leave BF2 instead of migrating to the mods, popping up time to time to play with my friends.
