    Why the stats system fails

~THIS IS NOT AN EXPLANATION FOR WHY YOUR STATS DONT UPDATE~

As many of you know the stat system can be a fun addition to the game but can also add to an increase in noobs. The Reason for this is that the Stat System is based on individudal performance ill explain.

you probably know what Stat Padders do they usally kill then have someone revive easy exploit that they can use and then once they get a good amount of points around 100 they can change the map and then no one will suspect a thing. And they get closer to their shiny new rank.

What should of been one to keep this from happening was make the W:L ratio and K/D ratio factors. When you think about it Medic whores who only try to revive people would have to fight sometimes to keep their ratio from getting too bad and you can not stat pad K:d ratios without someone losing.

Had EA of decided to use W:L or K/D ratios instead to determine the ranks then there would be alot lees noobish behavior and whinng about stats. To keep your rank from changing too much once you get a promotion you can not be demoted untill you fall past the required ratio for that rank AND the one before it.

And stats lasting for only the past month or week would be good too.

Ranking based on K is probably the best idea I've heard so far.

A K/D rank promotion would lead to dozens of snipers getting 2 kills and 0 deaths a round and then getting promoted. A W/L would lead to admins switching teams and kicking people to get their rank. I just pwnzored your ideas, the fact is, nothing would work perfectly. Assholes would find a way to abuse the system.

      Cheers

      P.S. Please use K/D, because K : D gives it a K

Im not suggesting a flat Ratio rank I meant more along the lines of for the first promotion require 5 hours and the ratio. also they could force autobalance to be kept on and maybe make it so that once a team drops below 33% of their tickets they can not switch to the other team on their own.

Thanks for pointing that out i changed them.

Yes, having a rank based on a combination of factors would be a better way of doing it. But every single stat can be padded in some way. If it was just based on W/L & K/D ratios, I would be a freakin General by now, and we can't let that happen. Some sort of ranking system that incorporated almost all stats, awards, time, etc would be better, but far more complicated.

I know this is far fetched, but tracking what servers a player is on, what maps, size, vehicles, IO, etc to see how broad of a player they are would be nice. It would encourage people to venture out of their own clan servers "protective bubble", make ground pounders fly, flyboys play IO, and revive maps that may not be favored.

Oh, and get ready for all the flaming by the Anti-Stat folks.

Padding K/D ratios, how is that feasible?

Average K/D ratio over a few weeks would be best. Padding would be excruciatingly painful, and it would give an accurate view.

The last section is a good idea, but how would that work?

Anyone can rig their W/L ratio simply be switching teams during the last seconds of a round. If we emphasize a certain category to determine ranks and overall score, the padding would be instead more focused than general.

If it only went by KDR alot of people would just do what this guy has done

Probably leaves a round if he dies, unless he's like 60-1 or something.

I have/had a spare account similar to that.

It doesn't last when you play for long on it. Each additional death more than halves your KDR. One second you're running 60-1, the next you get TKed a few times and it becomes 60-8 and hence 7.5.

Hence "Probably leaves a round if he dies"
                    So it's not recorded.

It is recorded. Stats are updated in real time, from 1.4 I think. If it was based on K/D, to stop a padder would entail TKing them continually a few times. I see no problem with that

If by W/L you mean wins and losses then i don't think its such a good idea.
It would be too easy to wait till the tickets are somethinh like 20-70 and then change sides (even with AB).
Then you have the players who have just joined, spawned and then the round is over, and their stats will be affected for doing nothing.
Then you have a map like wake where you could be going around capping flags and killing the enemy (getting points) and your stats will be affected becouse of your team mates TK'ing on the carrier for jets and choppers.

I think it is a stupid idea and i am just glad EA had the time to think in throught.

I always disconnect if i have a really crappy round and it's never recorded. Died like 20 times in a row when i was drunk trying to solo in chopper, d/c'd before end of the round and Death streak is still 13 ;p

Well, a person can pad their K/D by constantly killing a friend who's using a second account that they don't care about. Then another player does the revive. Classic padding.

True, maintaining a good K/D over a long period of time is quite difficult, especially over all kits/vehicles.

I don't know, that's why I considered it "far fetched". It would just be nice to see a system that encouraged players to play ALL aspects of the game. And to encourage the masses, there needs to be some sort of reward, like the only way to get a higher rank is to be proficient in all vehicles/kits, played a min of X amount of hrs in all maps, and have X amount of awards.

Did that happen pre-1.4? Generally, stats update ASAP. I left my PC for a few minutes once to find I had a nice new 25 death streak and somewhere in the middle of the Wake Island ocean
