    BF2 turns 2

Yes that's right, on June 21st, 2005 the full version of BF2 was released to the public and hordes of Battlefield fans rushed to get their very own copy!

I remember pre-ordering the DVD version of the game, picking it up from EB and installing it for the first of what would be many times. After getting past the video driver, first patch & optimizing setting issues, I was finally able to play. I was very impressed with the graphics, gameplay and online ranking system and haven't found another game yet that has drawn such interest.

Some of us have been playing since then while others have jumped onboard as the years have passed. What has your overall BF2 experience been? What's kept you interested in this game? What have been some of the major "highpoints" and "lowpoints" along the way?

Also, has anyone else questioned why the stat system is suddenly having problems on the eve of BF2's 2-year anniversary? Almost like it was never designed to last more than 2 years, and now EA is trying to "fix" yet another bug. Call it the YBF2K Bug.

My stats are fine now, btw. And yeah, I think the major lowpoint was when they nerfed the BlackHawk

Lowpoint for me was the 1.3 patch that just ruined the game for me for 3 months or however long it was.

Highpoint for me was kidnapping a glitcher on Warlord and handing his *** to him. I don't think he knew what alt+F4 was  And making officer

Its a good game but I've moved on as the bugs that persist after 2 years is unacceptable and I detest the way nearly all support was abandoned once 2142 hit the shelves.

This game could have been soo much better if the support was there in abundance even after 2142 came out.

2 years later and I still play the game but have taken a few month leaves here and there before of the annoyance that how many bugs still persist in a game by the largest game producer.. 2 years later which is quite irritating. I personally can't wait till CoD4 comes out so I can get rid of BF2 as my main FPS

Seems like a million years ago - June 2005. Bought it the day before it was officially released in Europe. Great game, made superb by the Project Reality mod. Haven't played the vanilla game in months if not a full year at this stage

It's interesting and simultaneously frustrating that most of the people active on this forum probably bought the game only in the last few months and missed out on the great drama that was the DICE patching

I personally love this game...problems and all....i think the stat system is cool. While i don't play for the glory of the rank, it is cool to have a feedback system. My main complaint is not with the game but with the players that constantly ***** about the game, EA/Dice, glitches, bugs, etc. If you need to vent, fine...no issues with that...i just can't stand the players that constantly whine about the game. I have said it before and I'll say it again...if the game is really that bad..stop playing it. I am in it for the long haul....hell i still play BF1942 at least once a week.

BF2 is 2? We should be getting a few free maps! :/

                  haha

Really, I still enjoy the game, remember when I bought it, first map I tried was Dalian Plant, was amazed, and confused, so much stuff you could do. Had loads of fun times... still enjoy the game, not AS much but still the best game out there I think. Just too many idiots play this game now which ruins the fun - and too many point whores ruin the game.

I've reinstalled BF2 so many times that I have my CD key memorized.

                      Lowpoints - Nil.

High points? Every damn thing about the game itself.

I think instead of making new maps EA should work on a new game maybe one that could handle 128 players or one where you could go in ANY building and get on any floor to get to ANY window.

I dont think any game has held me by the balls like BF2 has, now that I look back at the whole way I walked, from an FPS newbie aviationbuff up to the spot where I no longer wanted to play the game at all. Im afraid either there wont be a game with such impact anymore, or Im just too grown up to enjoy them as much as I did BF2. I installed BF2142 expecting the same effect... wow...
