    BF2 vs BF2142 - For Mac

Okay. Some of you will have noticed am a Mac user. But let's not get tarded about it....

EA is launching BF2142 for Mac (plus a buncha other dreft) - but alas! No BF2!!

Now, am a committed BF2er, and I've seen plenty complaints about BF2142, so the question is:

Is it worth bothering to move to BF2142 from BF2?

If Ea are launching 2142 for the Mac, it may be worth seeing if they are going to release the Demo for the Mac too, could save you some money :)
The Demo was as far as I got wrt 2142. I thought it was shockingly bad.

Definitely. I recommend it 100%. Stock up on the SLI-certified RAM and the Core 2 Duo certified case as well.

Nope. From previous posts I see BF2's only for PC.

However, if you intal Apple's Boot Camp and split your drive (using Tiger or Panther OSX), you can play BF2.

Which is a bit of a faff, when it comes down to it.

BUT NEWS! Steve Jobs' Leopard demo revealed you can run Windows simultaneously if you so desire. AND - if your watch the demo - switching between OS's is simply a matter of doing that cool Expose screen shift.

Another reason Mac rocks the house.

So it finally looks like Apple are gonna catch up for us gamers. :yay:

Are you serious? you sure that wasn't just that spaces thing, or alternate desktops?

If you're right i am definitely going to upgrade to leopard! man, the only downside to bootcamp was always rebooting if i wanna go on a game.

Upgrade to leopard will be something like £50 or less, from 98 to XP it was something like £200

2142 sucks. It gets so boring after 1 week that you will never play it again.

Apple are being pulled back by Microsoft apparently.

They could bring in super fast switching so a reboot was hardly needed but Micsoft said no or something.

I'm pretty sure that's Paralells or VMware. Both may be supporting 3D acceleration to some degree in the future but it won't be as fast as running Windows natively which will still require a reboot.

If I remember correctly it is just a port. It would by better to install Windows XP and run BF2 and BF2142 and any other game.
