Hey, before I get started I'm just going to varify that when I say hardware, I'm referring to your keyboard/mouse/joystick.
Well I have pondered this question a few times and I proved it to myself today. Last week I was stuck playing with my G5 mouse while it was broken. For those of you who are not familiar with this mouse, it has 3 dpi (sensitivity) settings. The decrease button broke and it kept going to the highest setting when I joined the game.
Having nothing better to do after work on a week day nite, I said f it, I'll play anyways. I was sucking a lot at first but then I got use to the setting and was doing OK.
A few days ago Logitech mailed me my new G5 under warranty. I hooked it up and BANG! The difference is clear. You can have skill but with out the proper hardware to get you there it won't shine. Having the right hardware makes the difference between mowing down more ppl or donating you corps on the streets of karkand
With a bad mouse I was getting 20-11, 40-23 or ratios like that anyways, Not bad but room for improvement. After hooking up a new G5, dun dun dun duhhhhh 32-2, 25-3...
So I'm convinced that I need the G5 otherwise my skill would be in the pits. I also use the G15 - purely for the LED light up letters and multimedia player controls and reliability. I used another keyboard with sthe blue led light up keys and multimedia player controls but it was like a laptop keyboard and the buttons broke FAST. Poor quality? Yes.
What I'm really killing people with is not my ak-101 or L85 or M2. No, its been my trusty combination of G15 and G5 thats been keeping me alive and the enemy dead =D

Ok, I forgot to put in that this is also based upon experience from previous mice too. I use to an optical mouse with no dpi changing mods and got skooled more often than when I did the skooling. My mouse before that was a Ball mouse. It was ok but flying wasn't it's best sport. And finally, the mouse I have been saving for the end is some Fatal1ty piece of shlt optical mouse. It too had 3 dpi settings but I did horrible with it.
ps. J10 is such a noob toy anyone could fly it out and own. I use it too on wake island but after playing wake for 333+ hours I finally realized its a lame map. I/o was the best thing to happen in BF2 - Now if only EA will make a zone around the flag where gaymore wh0res cant place there gaymores. Woah, game improved 150%
