  • BF2 keeps crashing

    Just built a new PC:

    Asus P5N-E SLI
    Intel E6600
    2GB Corsair DDR1066
PC Power & Cooling 610 watt PSU
    EVGA Geforce 8800GTX videocard

and now I start BF2 and it just crashes. I can't get into the game. I tried uninstalling BF2, and installing the patch. Tried it again, and it crashed. I kept the profiles, though, but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the crash.

When I double click the bF2 icon, it goes black like it's going to play the game, then crashes back to desktop. Please help. I didn't have this problem with my old rig, AMD 3000+ and X850 XT PE videocard.

What PC parts are you running?

        I asked same question:

@OP. Have you tried deleting your profiles? Only thing off the top of my head would be a conflict with the new res (?) you're running with your 8800 and the one from your profile.

Edit: after further reading on the issue, I must agree with myself...

...unless of course that doesn't work, in which case that other fella was full of something brown and gooey.

It works now. I uninstalled and deleted the profiles, then I installed BF2 and tried playing without the patch. It worked, then I installed the patch. It worked also.

search for adware running in the background.

            ctrl-alt-del for task manager

end the processes attached to you user.

            and try to run.

I think this is the root cause.
