Weapons question

How do you unlock the G36 (is that right ?) for a Medic ? Do you need Special Forces installed ?

I have all the weapons as Ive been playing for a couple of years now but I have a mate who started last month. He wanted to get the G36 for the Medic but it doesnt give you an option to unlock it. Do you need to have Special Forces installed in order to get it ? It's been so long that I cant remember......
