yea its the taunt that came in when 2142 was released you hear it now and then. i hear it when im commander mostly

If i remember correctly if you signed up to be a veteran on 2142, you get to do the laugh on BF2. You get it when you try to spot a dead guy and is used as a taunt. Which is why you get it more as commander =)

huh, I never heard it, but then, I don't have BF2142.
I signed up for the veteran program, though. After playing the BF2142 Demo I decided to NOT buy that game.

oddly never heard the laugh after like 1500 ranked hours, registered for 2142 vet and everything, i dunno maybe i am just to focused on the fight at hand to pay attention. is it really loud and noticeable? I'm usually listening to battle sounds (footsteps, kit support etc) so a passive laugh i could easily let slip and shrug it off as letting one rip without knowing it and thinking that was all it was. tell you one thing tho, they really FVCKED with the spotting system with it, they simply cannot implement something without breaking something else.

Although I have no clue what it's for, I heard that laugh quite a few times as well. As if someone stands behind you and is about to pwn you lol.
And yes, most of the times when I command.

Ive heard it on Mashtuur once and Karkand once both times i didnt die, it just happened, nobody else heard it tho....

I dont even have BF2142.....

Finally an explanation for this weird thing. At first when I heard it I seriously doubted I was mentally healthy :laugh: . But this is pretty creepy, suddenly you hear somebody laughing...

That laugh has been there since before 2142. I believe that it has been there since the release of BF2. Someone on the forum here mentioned they found the audio file somewhere in the BF2 dir.

Anyway, here is the REAL cause for the crazy laugh in BF2. You can test it out for yourself, but its all about timing.

The laugh is caused when you spot an enemy at nearly the same exact moment that the spotted enemy dies. It does not matter if your the commander or not. The reason most folks hear it as commander is because you tend to spot more while your commanding. Thus you have more opportunities to get a well timed spot with an enemies death. Increasing the odds of you hearing the laugh. Again, you DONT have to be commander to hear this.

The only difficult part is timing this with respect to your latency. Just get a buddy, hit an empty server and test it out. Eventually you will hear it.

i've heard it once, but cant remember what the scenario was. and i think i registered for the extra rank on BF2142.

After playing the BF2142 Demo I decided to NOT buy that game.FipZ

I did exactly the same thing, only feature i liked out of the few hours i played on that game was the lazer sniper rifle thingy bob.
