    Backwards attach uncap rules

    Many servers have a rule

no attacking uncaps until you hold all the flags.

To me this seems backwards. If they don't have any flags, its nearly guaranteed to degrade into unskilled rape fest.
    Seems like is should be:

Only attack a team's uncap if they hold all the flags.

This would give the team a chance to re-capture some flags and avoid being raped.

You know, that is what actually makes sense. If you lost all your flags (or failed to capture) then you deserve to get raped.

Not attacking uncaps at all is a backwards rule though. Are we supposed to just sit around and wait for the enemy to come?

Not being allowed to attack uncaps is a stupid rule, but thats a whole other discussion. I see what your saying though. I think they should make the rule that if the other team holds all the flags, you are NOT allowed to attack the uncap until the team gets at least 1 flag.

That and hotseating, but one of my favorite servers has those two rules lol. I just like to knife one of the clan guys.. he's just so easy, even on maps like wake, I knife him 3-5 times.

Last I remember, you can only control one player in a game. An individual trying to cap flags and defend them from the enemy will not work. Saying people deserve to get spawn raped or base raped ignores lots of factors that got the game to that point. Haha! You had the unfortunate circumstances of joining this server, and being placed on that team! Prepare to be raped!
Sitting around... you mean playing defense?

I've seen many versions of this rule, and it works. For example on a Wake server, not allowed to board or attack the carrier until the US has 1 flag. It at least gives people a chance to spawn in and try to make a difference.

If there were no points, would it even be an issue? (DCon is a bad example)

I little issue if the game has progressed over several minutes and they all the people have been pushed back into their uncap.

Even in a standard game, where a good team can 'rush' to use a RTS term the other team before they can cap, I still feel that it is the weaker team that failed to strike quick and hard. The game was ever designed like some Mods have with a perimeter that dictates how close you can get to the uncap. If there was a line in the sand, it would be much easier.

But it really should be up to the server admins, but in my book, if the pansies can get out of the base, then they need to improve their skill.

For the most part though, I think a lot of people fail to differenciate between "baseraping" and "spawncamping". You will still catch me doing both, but I will not catch me spawncamping a capable flag.

Yeah, Base raping is not when one guy is running around with a G36 killing everyone in spawn. Hell, it isnt one guy in an Mi 28. Its when half of the enemy team has tanks, planes, helos, snipers, and all kinds of other dangerous things pointed right at your main base.

Even so, all uncap rules are lame.

                  Re: Backwards attach uncap rules

ive seen several variations of this rule, from 'no attacking uncaps' to ' no attacking uncaps unless you hold all the flags' and 'no attack uncaps unless they hold atleast one other flag'....so it depends on what server you go to...

and i agree...it makes less sense to attack the uncap ONLY when they cant spawn elsewhere...lol....

                  thats guarenteeing a rape-fest

                  EDIT::

also, lets not forget things like, maps that begin with only one uncap for one of the teams....that would allow the fast loaders to rape the team with only an uncap and disallow them to even take a single flag....thats no good

                    Re: Backwards attach uncap rules

I hate all uncap rules. I think its just part of the game. In pub servers the teams are usually not co-ordinated enough to rape efficiently. A good clan can do things differently and i can see that being a problem (but i beleive its the exception not the rule). In DC clan matches good teams would block all but 1 or 2 spawns with vehicles so you could only spawn in a couple of places. Guess what happened when you spawned?

Ah yes, the guys with the RAIDed Raptor HDDs are the ones to worry about. Those boys are the guys that get the first helo, fly over and steal the enemy helo before anyone else gets in the server! I have a couple friends that are fast enough to pull it off on the right maps! :salute:

That reminds me, I need to hook my SCSI drives backup in my rig. I hated the noise, but god they are fast!
