After a killer start to a karkand IO round, I was heading for a new massive BR of 220+, but eventually the enemy (MEC) capped out everything and spawn raped us at the uncap, leaving me with a crappy 162, losing out on the gold by 1 point to the enemy commander 
Next round as MEC on jalalabad the enemy continued thier flag capping rampage and before i knew it, we were all out of flags, with me on only 2-7. Being the only one left alive, i spawned as assault and prepared to get as many kills as possible using the GL, since capping flags was impossible. i ran from hotel to market and probably the greatest kill streak of my 450 hour bf2 career took place :)
it started by killing a lone soldier with the f2000 GL. sure enough medics come to revive him, i wait, 3 easy kills. then the exact same thing happens again, 6 kills with only one GL shot left. i climbed onto the building near market and just hid there until i saw an enemy, and finished him off with the GL. 9-7 at this stage. I then jumped off the roof and just ran around market non stop, flashbangs everywhere until i hit 3 guys with it and killed em all with the gun. 12-7 and i still hadnt been hurt. the rampage continues, 2 more kills to me just by running around and picking off players as they spawn. eventually then whole usmc team was at market and on 14-7 i got my final 3 kills in a row, sniping them all as they went prone. eventually after running out of ammo they finally got me but i was shocked, my 17-7 (15 kill streak all by myself :P ) was enough to give me the gold, beating the enemy commander by a single point 
I think i can honestly say, any other gun and i wouldnt have had a chance, flashbangs are just incredibly useful.
