BF2 SF Lock-up on only certain servers?

I have been playing SF on many multiplayer servers for about a year now with no problems. Few days ago I was playing BF2 SF Ghost Town on a server called "maxcarnage". I like to play there often. Anyway I had a power failure in the house mid game. Once power returned I tried to play the game again. Here's where it just pisses me off. Everytime I try to go to that one server it just locks the game up tight. So I tried other servers, and 1 out of 3 servers now just hang when I click the "Join Server" button. No error messages, no crash to desktop, just stays on the multiplayer server screen forever. I have to ALT=TAB to get to the start button to restart windows. Most work fine and I can join and play them with no probs. But that maxcarnage" server and some others just lock the game up instantly when I try to join.

So with pain, I deleted all BF2 from my computer and started loading it all again. I patched with latest patch and guess what....same problem. AAARRRGG

I really hate this problem cause it isn't all servers, just a few. I have checked all video settings and made sure I checked the "punkbuster,same mod,same version,no password buttons, ect. The only way to find out what server will lockup my system is to just join and see what happens. HELP

Surely, someone has some ideas???? Come-on, I'll try any idea no matter how it sounds. I have searched this site, but don't see any posts identical to my issue.

I have the same problem... and what really sucks is my clan's server is one that I can't access

Clear the cache found under My docs -> Battlefield 2 -> Logocache
and the cache found under My Docs -> Battlefield 2 -> mods -> BF2 -> Cache

I just COMPLETELY reformatted my entire hard drive with a fresh install of XP. Loaded BF2 and Special Forces and still am experiencing the "freeze" at "join server". It is not all servers, like 3 out of 5. Wouldn't you know I had complete power failure while playing BF2 last Saturday....AAARRRGGG. I thought it corrupted a system file or REG file, But I see now that other are experiencing the EXACT same problem as me. Glad to know other are sharing my pain. Well not glad, but it does help.

So anyway, don't go re-installing all your files just yet......unless you just have alot of spare time now, not playing BF2!

BTW, I am posting my ISP so if others do, maybe we can eliminate that. I'm on BrightHouse/Time Warner with Road Runner High Speed service, in the panhandle region of Florida.

Run a "tracert" on the ip of the server your trying to connect to and post a screenshot of the results back here.

Here's the follow-up: Everything has suddenly started working again? I don't know why, but I'm not gonna argue! I no longer have the lock-up probs any more.
