    "Join IP" Not Working

Me and my friend have continuously tried to join a single-player game I host y means of teh "Join IP" thing that apparently provides offline play for two or more human people.

We've tried this, both ways, me giving him my IP and vice vrsa and all it says is "Failed to Connect". The port # is right and the IP's are right so ftw?

Are you using the "join local" tab and are you on the same local network? If so, you shouldn't really need "join by ip". Or are you trying to join an SP game instead of using co-op mode?

I'll assume you're on the same local network. I've never used the 'join by ip' under 'join local' but it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't work; it didn't even exist in v1.0. Since they added co-op mode in patch 1.3 I find it much easier to use that since the server shows up in the 'join local' browser and you can adjust most common settings without needing to edit files. If you really prefer to use SP and can't use online accounts (where 'join by ip' does work) then you can try the old workaround to make the SP game appear in the browser:
        1. Start a local server (doesn't matter what map)
        2. Client should see the server in the local browser but doesn't join yet
        3. Cancel the server
        4. Start the SP game
        5. Client can now join the SP game using the browser

So i can't do it if I am not in a LAN? Cuz I don't wanna use dedicated server crap cuz I can't play my server on the same PC [apparently] and my friends and i wan't a server without buying one and we're not LAN.

Try using Hamachi so you will be able to play on Lan with eachother. :)

All of you, make a network, then you can all join it and play.

I believe Hamachi basically makes a connection over the internet look like a LAN/local connection to BF2.

You should be able to use 'join by ip' in the 'join internet' tab without Hamachi though; if not, you may need to open router/firewall ports on the server side.

I hear that alot but never understood what that meant.

What ports do I need to open? The port is 16567 on the Connect to IP form [where you enter the IP], do those other ports really have any effect on that? And what ports do I open?

16567 is the client port. From http://www.serverwiki.org/index.php/...d_2_Server_FAQ :
What ports does BattleField 2 Server use?

                      Server Ports:

                      UDP: 27900
                      UDP/TCP: 29900
                      TCP: 80
                      TCP: 4711
                      UDP: 27901
                      UDP: 1500-4999
                      UDP/TCP: 1024-1124
                      UDP: 29900
                      UDP/TCP: 27900
                      UDP: 16567
                      UDP: 55123-55125

I haven't run a server over the internet so I can't vouch for this.
