I just added a second monitor to my system, a 22" widescreen LCD. This is the secondary monitor. I had the idea that I could have a DVD playing on it while playing BF2 on my primary monitor (4:3 LCD). When I start BF2. though, Windows Media Player stops showing the video for the DVD. The screen is simply black. The audio does continue. Is this normal? The other thing that I noticed is that if I move the cursor over to the secondary monitor and click on anything, BF2 minimizes. I assume that is normal? My card is an NVIDIA GEForce 6800 GS.

All of that sounds normal...
The way I understand it, is that once you start up BF2 in "Full Screen" mode, it covers the entire screen, but since BF2 is not set to be split on the two monitors it only goes to one, but the "Full Screen"ness... is sent to both monitors. Your programs will still run in the background (like it would if you were just playing music while playing BF2). It will minimize BF2 when you click on the other because it is technically out of the BF2 program...it is just a black screen.
What you need to do is either run BF2 in "Windowed mode" or somehow configure BF2 to only run on one monitor, or make your other monitor separate or something.
In order to run in "Windowed" mode, find your BF2 shortcut (on your desktop or something), right click-->properties. On the "Target" line, after the quotes (should end in BF2.exe") space one over and add +fullscreen 0.
(To get back to full screen change the 0 to a 1 or delete the part you added).
This may not solve your problem to your satisfaction, but it will give you something to play with.

Thanks. I put BF2---actually SF---in Windows mode and I couldn't maximize the window or get beyond the "movie" at the beginning. But I'll keep fooling with it. Thanks again.Comment
