    Sniper Range

Does anyone know the range of the M24 im usually good up to 100m but after 125m i generally cant hit anything. I was wondering whats the furthest accurate shot you've taken with the M24?

    Re: Sniper Range

it can take a few shots to actually hit ur target. with patience/3-4 shots ive hit targets 200+ meters away

btw wat settings are u playing. i remember when i had a bad comp and played on super low settings, i could barely hit stuff beyond 100m, but now with a decent comp and high settings/higher resolution, i can hit stuff pretty well beyond 100m. idk y

What you are experiencing is probably deviation (aka bullet drop) problems, which can be solved by aiming a bit higher up the further the target is.

M24 is the most accurate sniper rifle. Not that the others are so inaccurate.

Anyway, I'm sure I've hit over 300m. Make sure view distance is 100% and geometry is on high. If you can play with max settings on everything else, then I would recommend it. Lighting effects can give away enemy positions by muzzle flash.

        :edit:
If you don't play on Karkand, you should be able to hit targets further away.

more people need to know this, tired of "how did you know I was there you dont have UAV?"
when they dont think of things like that........or the OBVIOUS, the commander spotted them

On a related note, can anyone tell me why I don't get the confirmation "X" when I hit a target while sniping? It's never happened at long range since I started BF2?

I'm currently on Medium settings. Does this affect whether I see the damage indicator or not? It seems only to happen while sniping (scoped). If I use other weapons (pistol, g3se,etc) it will confirm. It just doesn't for sniping.

The L96 has exactly the same accuracy as the M24 (on BF2, probs not in real life!)

Nope. The L96 Hit point is actually a lil' lower than the point of intersection.

Do you hold the scope button down so it lingers after the shot?

I hold it down for too long usually...then i have to reload and the targets out of range :@

I'm pretty sure, in the coding, that the L96 has the same accuracy. However i might be wrong. Anyone else know?

you need to keep your finger on the trigger, to stay scoped, this is the only possible way to get a hit detection.

i think that ive become over confident with the M24 over recent weeks. i only ever wait for hit confirmation on long shots these days, its got to the point where i know what i can and cant hit, and dont expect any less on the short ones.

As for the M24 and L96A1 having the same accuracy, well im not too sure. theres no way the L96 hits dead centre of the reticule, whereas the M24 does.

I like the M24 best. The L96A1 is really cool. But I usually use the Type-88 when I play PLA, and the SVD when I play MEC. I just like the Semi-Auto Snipers!

Perhaps not. I usually pop up from cover, snipe the target, then get back down. So no, I don't hold the scope button. Never knew I could. If I remember correctly, the scope comes down by itself, but that may be because I let go of the fire button after the shot.
