    Bad CTD problem

Hey, I been having a real bad issue with trying to LAN with a friend of mine (My apologies if this has been answered somewhere else in the forum, but it's not letting me search... keeps telling me to log in again... ).

Basically, the issue is that whenever I try join a game that's being hosted by him, the game crashes to desktop during the whole verifying client data thing. If he tries to join a game that I'm hosting, it just tells him the connection to the server was lost before even it switches to the loading screen. In that case, the game seems to be working fine on my PC.

I'm pretty sure the issue is my side, as we have been able play using his and another friend of mine's computer without issue. I'm running an Asus laptop with 1.25GB RAM, Turion64 1.6GHz, GeForce Go 7300, etc. I'm fairly sure it's not a direct hardware issue tho, as the game works fine in single player and i don't have any problems when hosting, even though no one can join me. I've tried with firewall on and off, various drivers, closing as many processes as possible and so on.

Also had the problem on a brand new clean install on a brand new monster PC of yet another friend. I can't tell you the exact specs, though as I can't remember them. Suffice to say it was a Dual Core AMD 5600+ and 2Gigs of RAM.

    Hope someone's got some ideas....

EDIT: Forgot to say... this has been happening with both stock 1.0 and patch 1.3. Haven't been able to try 1.4 or 1.41 as we got nasty bandwidth caps in this country

Sometimes, its just gay like that. Nothing you can do. One day it will just start working again for no obvious reason.
