Being located with the SRAW

Hey alot of times when i lock onto a tank, allmost immediately the tank will turn to my exact location in a instant, how do they know where i am? i know when you lock on them it gives them the warning, but can the tell my direction somehow?

No they can not tell your direction.

If you fire at them though they can see where the shot came from by looking at the smoke.

yea but i think he means before he fires the shot...
i dunno.
but yea a tank can tell by the smoke trails were the rocket has come from.

Or hacks. I am wary of any player, in armor or not, who always seems to be looking in my direction, whom I can never sneak up on, never trick, and is always running around the corner firing at the perfect moment every time.

the first thing i do when i am in a tank and i hear a lock, i look for popular spots. it works most of the time.

^^ he could be doing this or using other camera views. When I'm in armor I always cycle thru camera views, I almost never run into any problems with infantry.

Learn to not lock-on. Just fire and find another spot, and fire again. If you must, lock-on for long enough to check aim, unlock, fire and move. The only time you really need to is if your going for a track shot, or a person and you need to be very accurate.

yeah firing SRAW or ERYX at people takes tracking and accuracy, sometimes when i play AT i just shoot and dont bother aiming.

Thanks, for all the input, some seem to find me exactly when i hit zoom, & some i think could be using the F keys to have another view, i guess probably good hotkey'd keyboards are an advantage.

I like to fire at tanks from behind something like a fish barrel. Pop up,fire unzoomed, and go prone. They get all freaked out cuase the smoke seems to come from nowhere....

Well when you're in an Armor or Heli, you get a little red X in the corner with a loud beeping noise alerting you that you're about to be owned. This is where "BAIL OUT!" comes into play.
