Are you sure you are not confusing bits with bytes? :p (Other than that, I honestly don't understand what you just wrote.)

Oh, BTW, in regard to your 200MB monthly limit, are you sure that's for standard internet access and not just for your personal homepage?

That's a lot of data! Stop with the pr0n, man, and get a girl! j/k Do you have a wireless network going (you know, for your home)? Maybe you forgot to secure it and your neighbor is stealing your bandwidth.

I don't know, but based on that, you definitely don't seem to have any 200 MB restrictions going on.

Edit: Some ISP's are dumb (or "market savvy" if you prefer) , however, and use "MB" to represent megabits even though it really stands for megabyte. If that's the case, then never mind all of the above.

You don't have to actually download anything - any downstream and upstream datatransfers are counted. Even when you made this post, you already spent both your down- and upstream quotas.

Every time you view a post and somebody has 1 meg signature - that's 1 MB off your downstream quota. Send 5 photos to your friend via email - that's 10 MB off your upstream quota.

If you still think you haven't spent all that, do a virus and spyware scan, there's bunch of unwanted programs that send and recieve data around without you knowing it. Also, check that you don't have any p2p software running, or maybe some SETI@HOME junk that keeps on using your comp to filter through space static.

Yes, playing BF2 uses it up as well.

That's why his 200 MB limit baffles me. Sure, static images (like those in sigs) would stay in his browser's cache, but you would think that random internet surfing, even moderately, would eat up that 200 MB within an hour!

Anyway, Antz, I don't know what more to say. To answer your first question, I don't know. I think Opera used to have a feature dealing with page sizes and such, but it's been years, so I don't remember. I do remember that it definitely displayed the size of the page in the status bar after the fact, so that's probably still there. (So using it for a few days would give you an idea of what to expect.)

Will 5 GB/month be enough? I imagine so, but I've never monitored my monthly usage, so I really have no clue.

Definitely secure your wireless network! use wpa-psk encryption if you can. If thats not available then just use 128bit wep.

also there should be an option in whatever internet browser your using to not load any images. Or at the least, you can go into your control panel here and turn off signatures, images and avatars.
