from what i read, there are a lot of people running this game with only 1 gig of ram or less. Even if i have only 1 gig, i dont think the game should be quitting on me.

That just suggested to me that it was a ram issue. Yes you shouldn't have a problem with only running 1 gig of ram. I wouldn't suggest that you play with only 1 gig; but that is all up to you.

Do you have anything running in the background? That could hog up some run.

no. I make sure i have as much ram as possible before running the game so i close everything possible. Before i run the game, i only have a little over 300 megs or ram being used.

1 gig is a kinda like the minimum I would think to run bf2 on.. 2 gigs is a lot better, anyway prob doesn't sound like that.
did u do the 1.41 patch.

With that GPU (graphics card) you do need more RAM.

Otherwise try turning down you graphics settings to Low.

Well I have no opinion on if this is directly related to 1gb of ram, most likely not. With the correct Page File size my guess would be the game could still run correctly just not nearly as good.

Back in 2003 when I first tried Battlefield 1, I noticed my older 1600+ /1gb PC2100/Geforce 2 Ti500 ran circles around my 2600+/512mb PC3200/Geforce4 system. The RAM is a must on Battlefield even on the old version with XP 1gb was needed. Pretty much all has doubled IMO. XP used to need 512mb of minimum OS, 1gb would be better. Vista now needs 1gb minimum, 2gb Ideal and 3gb+ for Battlefield. Of course 64bit OS will only take advantage of the extra over the 2gb limit.

Anyone running Vista and BF2 should at least have 2gb or do what you are trying and disable everything and run the game at very low settings.

Good luck, I know this didn't help much but just wanted to point out how important more RAM is IMO.

you need more ram i was using 2gb and having those problems now that i am running 4gb the problem went away. You would need a minium of 3gb of ram, when i was running 2gb my ram was running at 95% now with 4gb it runs at 36%

Buy it now while its cheap

Maybe running the game ok with 1 gig ram, with XP, but not with Vista. ...Vista itself doesnt run that well with 1 gig, much less Vista AND BF2. I ran Vista 32 bit with two gigs, and experienced the same exact problems. I changed to Vista 64, with 4 gigs, and it runs sweet. That makes me think that Vista is a ram hog, and so is BF2 ...but together, I don't think you can have too much ram. May as well face it, rigs now, and in the future, will need more and more to stay up with software demands.

Just a guess ...are you running Vista 32 bit?
