    What's with BF2 for Mac?

Am a Mac lover - but i have to go over the dark side to play BF2 in a cafe on PC.

However - i just saw a vid of sb apparently playing BF2 on their Intel mac.

Did a quick search and turned up diddly.

    Any advices, people?

Well, it is the old truth, you can do a lot on Macs....just can't game. As I recall Steve saying that Apple was all about professional/legitimate work. But Woz is all about having fun, so it is kinda a strange delema. Don't worry, my boys over at Id are not going to leave you in the cold.

Don't expect to see anything BF2 related supported for Macs. Ranked or unranked.

I'm not sure how well BF2 will run but it's easy enough to install Windows on a Mac. You just need Boot Camp.

I'm feeling sick...who would ever play a game on a Mac? That just seems wrong. :shakehead

I mean I guess you can...since they caved in and switched to a real architecture. Still a Mac though.

Hey - let's not get into a PC- vs Mac war here.

So how's it going with Vista?

Re: What's with BF2 for Mac?

Regarding the BF2 question - It's simple. BF2 is never coming out for the Macintosh. You'll need to emulate Windows to be able to play BF2 on your Macintosh. I'm sure you can find a dozen or so web-sites that'll give you information on how to do this.

The question is; would you want to?

Who in their right mind would want to bother. Especially with predominantly Macintosh and Intel parts in their computer...

                      Rant On:

...To this day I never understood the commercials that try to pawn the Personal Computer as a lame nerd who makes graphs, and calculates stuff, while making the Macintosh look like a new-age fun-loving techno-geek.

Wheres the fun? My G4 powerbook has spent more time collecting dust, than it has being turned on. It often goes uncharged for months at a time, and is only used on occasion to troll web-boards on the wireless intraweb, when both PC's and my crappy Sony VAIO laptop are in use.

Macintosh doesn't cater to gamers. It never has. It instead spites us gamers. Since the days of the age old Apple computers, games were almost completely sworn off as a waste of time. To this day I think the only game I've ever played on an Apple those days was Oregon Trail... I think that was the only game it had.

Apple was all about shiek style, and functionality as a school computer. Thats where they saw the future of computers at... I guess we all know how things turned out.

                      Rant off:

you can play bf2 on a mac and it runs great. if you have an intel mac, you can partition the hd and install windows on it. Then when you start-up, you hold down a key combo and choose to start under os X or windows. My friend has a macbook pro and it runs bf2 on all high settings with no problem.

                            A tool is a tool, ain't it?

Naturally, I've used PCs a lot, but after switching to Mac - for internet security and OS stability - I've never had such a close relationship with something that only speaks in zeroes n ones.

As a confirmed digital-heroin addict, the Mac thing with few games is a bonus. In trying to find how to play BF2 on it, I'm just a sneaky crack head looking to waste time.

See, BF2 never woulda happened to me if I wasnt in an internet cafe waiting for me girl to finish shopping......

i didnt type in the renderer.drawfps 1 command, but by looking at it i would guess it was around 70ish; it was very smooth.

but keep in mind, it wasnt cheap. im not gunna get into the mac v pc battle, i use both. i just wanna say that he spent over 2500 for this 17 in laptop. its a nice laptop with 2 gigs of ram and a very crisp 1440 x 900 display. it obviously must be pretty good to run bf2 as well as it does, but you could definitely get a pc desktop that could run it as well for half the price. but then again, you dont get os x and all the programs of iLife such as iMovie, iTunes, garage band etc if you buy a pc. and laptops are always more expensive than desktops for the same specs.
