Wierd Problem

Hi All,

We have noticed for a bout a week our server has been empty or only a few in, and most of my clan have had various problems, but as usual noone has thought anything of it...

Here's the prob

Our server is hosted by rackage, we have in fact 2 and its only our infantry only server running karakand and jalalabad that has probs, you bring up the server list, find our server, double click it to join, and 1 of two things happen, either it just closes the game or it will load the server, you click join game then it closes.

The server has been reinstalledm rackage thought it might have been something to do with pb and vista as it now runs as a service or something, but thinking of it we don't run vista non of us....anyone come accross this?

your asking a Question about a server, surely creating a thread in the area dedicated to server owners would be more suitable?

Lin from MoonGamers, and I'm not on the Server Owner list.

We have one player that I know of having this issue, and I believe he runs Vista. He has the issue on our BF2 Special Forces server. We're polling our members to see if anyone else has been experiencing this.

And I have been getting one or the other of both of those starting sometime late last week/weekend. I had updated a couple of drivers over a few days when it started happening and then rolled all drivers back to what I had installed before, but it was still happening. For what it's worth at the moment I did not have either issue at all yesterday.

Also in the month and a half that I have been running Vista I have not had one CTD, until late last week as well, where as on XP I would get one at least 2-3 times per week.

none of my clan are running vista that i know of we're all on xp, not sure if the server ppl are running vista though they never said, i guess i assumed they are with them saying vista runs pb as a service

ya ill try to find a way to make these server the **** or in other words played alought

One thing I can guarantee in my case is that it is not caused by the PB services, as I don't have any games installed that use it.

The one and only time I had those services is about 2 months ago while still running XP and had America's Army installed, and that PB crap got snuck in on me. Needless to say once I found out what and where those services (PnkbstrA and B, and their wonderful little driver file PnkBstrK) came from America's Army was history (don't have BF2142). Wasn't overly concerned about not playing AA anymore as my interest in the game was waning anyway. Only reason for nuking the game and that PB update is I have experienced first hand how well PB codes some of their updates (quite a few AA players with Audigy cards went through about 6 months of hell as the result of a PB update about two years ago), and the fact that they snuck in the services and driver was just too much.
