Re: New to battlefield 2
a lot of mods come with their own installers so if u just run their intaller (ie pr_0506_setup.exe" and it will install it for you. and 2nd.
IMO, even with mods and maps, bf2 isnt that great in single player. i dont see why having a son will prevent u from playing online. if u need to leave the computer for a sec, just go afk or die and just sit in the spawn screen so u dont spawn. most servers won't really mind if u go afk for a few min

Re: New to battlefield 2
yeah that's true... i download a map pack the other day and just moved the map into the level folder and tried to play them but there was no bots. it just showed me you will respawn in 0 sec.

Re: New to battlefield 2
hmm i think those map packs are meant for online play because the bots have to be coded to know how to play the map.

Re: New to battlefield 2
most maps dont have SP support. Check out the BF2 SP community as they have loads of cool SP stuff to play with.
One thing thou is that playing online in BF2 aint so hard even if you need to hop off as you can really hop off at any time, or do what I do and crawle into the nearest bush, unleslect all spawn points so if you get knifed by some guy who finds you, you dont respawn for them to kill you again and then when you come back you can get into the action, or you can log off the server pretty quick.
not like a RTS game where you really have to stay there incase the guy decieds to attack you :p
But ye all the Mods are really worht a try. PR (comming out with a new release soon, open beta in afew days), POE2, OPK, USI (comming out with a new release soon), Battle Ships, BF1918 airshow, airmaps, sandbox, battleracer, + more! there loads of mods and all our worth a try!

Re: New to battlefield 2
like rhino said, if you do need to step away every so often for family duties you can always just unsleect all spawn point and find a bush, hehehe. most servers for mods have a pretty lenient idle kick time so you wont have to worry about that.
probably the most user friendly mods for a new player would be POE2, DCON EOD2, and PR. id say PR will take a bit of a learning curve as it brings a real sense of realism to bf2 so mistakes are panelized more severely than in vanilla. anyway you put it mods are the best fun youll have in bf2, youll find the friendliest and most team orientated players in the mods.

Re: New to battlefield 2
That stuff has to be properly coded for singleplayer use, and alot of people don't know how to do that, so many mods don't include SP support. If you open a map/mod that doesn't have SP and try and play it in SP you will crash.Originally posted by dagenius5 View Posti just saw the cool stuff for online play, and just figured that it worked for single player mode...
