Noob query: how to equip an unlocked weapon

How do I do this? I've unlocked the medic's green rifle but I'm not using it when I go as medic! How do I equip it? thanks.

on the spawn screen (where you choose your class of soldier) there will be a box with 2 arrows on it in the upper right of the medic class select-box.

click that icon and the gun will switch.
