So I'm flying on Oman today, and I go up in the F-35. I'd been doing considerably good, keeping up a postive ratio of about 10-3, and I see a Sukhoi, so I think "Hey, why not?".
I go for the guy and get within firing range with my guns. Boom goes his right engine, he's trailing smoke now. He hits the afterburners and I start falling behind.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see it, yes, a MiG! This guy had been a thorn in my side the whole round. Seeing as there were bigger fish to fry, I disengaged the Sukhoi and followed the MiG. He has no clue I'm sliding into a perfect firing position.
So I line up a shot, switch to A2A mode, and wait for the lock. Well, up he goes, and now I'm trailing behind him with a lead off his nose, similar to this diagram I have drawn:
About halfway through the loop I gain the perfect split second chance I had been waiting for. My line of fire was directly over his canopy now. I let loose with the cannons like a bat out of hell.
To my surprise, he is killed instantly. I'd only killed another pilot through his canopy without destroying his jet maybe once or twice before this. I watched his jet, still completely in tact, yet trailing a thick plume of smoke, fall out of the air like a shotgunned pigeon.

"Splash one!"
