Randomly Crashes to Desktop While Playing

Could someone please help me, this problem has been going on for so long and it makes the game virtually unplayable.
I can get into the game fine, but as soon as I start playing there is a lot of lag and as soon as I try to shoot someone or get into any sort of action, the game either crashes to the desktop or freezes the computer. I've talked to EA support many times and they've had me clear it from my registry andreinstall it and there was no progress. MY computer is plenty good enough to run it Dual Core 2.8GHZ Processor, 1GB RAM, NVIDIA 7300LE, SoundBlaster XFI card. And I have updated sound and video drivers. Anyone have any ideas?

what settings are you running the game on, oh and that GFX card is very poor.

It maybe to do with the gfx drivers!!

Do you get any error messages?

If you goto start, control panel, admin tools, event viewer & then slect application on the right is there any errors for the game?

If so can you post them here.

Try uninstalling your current drivers using driver cleaner & then installing these!!

I was just gonna start this thread as well. Mine is a hit or miss case. Most of the times I have zero issues at all. But on some nights, like tonight I open the game start a server get to play about 2-3 minutes then it shuts down to the Desktop. Did this 5 times tonight. Very irritating. I know my comp. can handle the game because I play it all the time. Just every so often this happens and bugs the hell out of me.

I get this on the odd occasion too. It doesn't lag, but I can be playing along and it will just quit to desktop without any errors.

Its just BF2....I get, I assume the vast majority of players get it from time to time as well. I find the restarting my computer (its way the hell and gone over minimum reqs but I still crash like everyone else) can slow the frequency of crashes, but its no cure.....kinda like putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound.

First that graphics card is not "very poor", its a 7 series, i use a 7300 GS, and i run games like CS and hl2 max graphics w/o aa and af at 100fps +

I experience this same problem. I have been unable to resolve it... most bf2 players DO NOT get it. All my friends who have bf2 run it with WORSE specs than this guy on high. his spec is good... im starting to think the 7300 is the problem.

aeonteleos - That video card is relatively poor, it is the bottom of the 7 series. It is capable of running the game, albeit not well. For example, the Geforce 6200s were nothing compared to the 6800s. 8x and up antialiasing is killer on video cards, try turning that on and see what it will do to your computer. You still get 100 fps?

sethmsk88 - I used to have that same problem intermittently with my old computer, maybe once or twice a week. I just dealt with it. I backed up all of my data to another HDD then wiped it and reinstalled Windows. It was a hassle but the problem went away. It also won't hurt to run memtest86 to verify your RAM integrity first, just to rule out that possibility.
