In thoery this maps sounds great. CQC on board an aircraft carrier is just what everyone wanted right? I've been playing Special forces for a couple of weeks now and in my opinion the this map is so badly thought out its one of the worst maps in F2.
If you play as MEC, you spend the first hald an hour attempting to go anywhere near the aircraft carrier. Its crazy thath the AA can hit the MEC helipads and its guns can hit the inflatables in on the shore. Add to this an army of anti-tanks and snipers on the decks the map is badly imbalanced. And what the hell is an Apache Longbow doing on a US assult ship?
So eventually you get inside and take a base. BF2 indoors should be great right? Er... no. Compared to Rainbow 6 and SWAT indoors combat is very... unsatisfying. I find you die very quickly indoors as head shoots are easier to do at point blank range and flashbangs don't seem to have the same impact as in 46 and SWAT. And unlike the games mentioned above you can't use cover effectively to shield yourself. Add to this the mess of flags and tags making your view confusing.
My suggestions?
- Make the Iron Gater a wrecked ship with seals starting on an island on the opposite side.
- No AA on the Iron Gater, they could have been destroyed or something.
So much potential, but a mess of a map in practice. Discuss.
