Patching Failed

Ok; before you start whining at me that I should have searched, I have searched. I spent at least 1 1/2 hours searching for solutions and then trying them.

As you can guess I am getting the famed Patching Failed error. I've been installing in this order BF2 -> BF2:SF -> Patch.

The patch has been downloaded from EA Link and File Planet so it can't be down to a corrupted patch. I am currently running on Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I've already had it installed on 32 bit Vista and it worked fine.

It is installed in C:\Program Files (x86):\EA Games.

Any ideas?

Whenever i re install SF i put it over the top of Vanilla and then re patch.

Thats what I'm doing.

I'm installing BF2 then installing SF and then patching. I'm going to try installing BF2, then patching, then SF and then patching and see what difference it makes.

Ok, i've figured out what I have to do to get it to work.

I need to install BF2, then install the patch in Windows XP Compatability mode, then install SF and then install the patch again in XP mode.

So, i've got it working now.
