Hey Guys,
Suddenly I'm Getting High Pings And Choppy Gameplay.

I dont know whats caused it, I dont go on any particular servers, but now any one I go on< I seam to get a high ping either from the start or get half way throguh. I Still get choppy gameplay you can't play with choppiness.

I just created a New Account, thats when the problems started(round about that day), I don't know if I started getting high pings STRAIGHT after I created the new account, it might have been before that Im not sure.

If there something I dont know its routers and ports, so if you do post, you make it in simple terms lol.


Could anyone help?

There could be anyone of a problem causing it.

Have you spoken to your ISP and do they have any issues?

have you scanned your computer for adware, spyware, malware?

Have you manually updated PB befire playing the game?

And what are your full system specs & what connection are u on?

I dont know my speed, how would I find that out?

Download PB here, then install it to your PB folder inside the BF2 directory, ie mine is C:\Battlefield\pb 2

once you have done this, run the pb program & it will scan your BF2 game to see if it needs updating, it will and then it will auto update PB for u.

To find out your internet speed you can try a speed test, although this may only give us an indication of what your speed maybe. Simply choose the yellow triangle, and then pot your results.

And what are your full system specs & what connection are u on?

go start, then run type dxdiag & hit ok. post what you see on the first screen and then what you have on the display & audio tabs.

As for the PB, Ive run it and Ive got a menu that I can add a game to or remove, I clciked check for updates and It says all updates have been applied So I guess thats it up to date. However I didnt install it into the BF2 directory, I just saved it to the desktop and then ran the program.

Ok ive noticed that I can have a 30 ping and still be jumpy, my specs are at Low/Medium, the way they always were and its jumpy.

In the options Menu, the connection type, shpuyld I set it to T1 or LAN ?

This is all just very weird becuase my internet is fine and Im using the same specs on my new account. would it becuase I have 1 accounts?

Right i think it will be best if you set all settings to medium but have textures & lighting on low as that gfx card is not the fastest, also you only have 1GB of ram.

Ideally BF2 requires 2GB to run smoothly.

You want to set your connection to T1 as by the looks of that scan you connection is @ 2MB

Use the following program to scan you computer for viruses..

Avg Free

Adware...

Adaware SE

Spyware...

Spybot S&D

Ok downloaded all 3 and Im running all atm, I also got the latest Gfx driver.

But this all doesnt make sense,why would it just suddenly go choppy etc?

Ok Ive took all the spyware / adware off, It helped alittle, but not enough to be able to play normally again though,

Does Anyone Have Any Other Idea's?

This is really annoying and Imtrying my hardest to get it sorted.

Do you have another computer running? If so try turning it off. This happens to me when I have 2 computers on at the same time, it takes up the bandwidth.

I'm going on the presumption you don't have any Torrent or other P2P programs/resource intensive programs running, it may just be your graphics settings turn them down one by one till you get acceptable frame rates.
