I don't mean to sound like a begger. I just know that since DDR SDRAM is outdated that a lot of you probably have it lying around and aren't using it.

outdated? no its not 1gb ram still costs ~£60

Yea, that's because a lot of them don't understand that not everyone is going to want a new PC or is going to want to upgrade to a system like theirs.

no its because they say what you need to play this game reasonably well, but people cant accept that they need to spend money on a new part or two. you dont need high end stuff to play bf2, but cheap stuff is a waste of money and a poor performer.

That's why I'm going with stuff just under the high end for my upgrades. That way I don't have to pay top dollar, and still end up with a 'supercomputer' above what I already have.

1.25GB mixed RAM

Upgrading to;
$165 CAN Athlon 64 x 2 4600+
$115 CAN Asus MwNPV mobo
$150 CAN 2GB RAM
$550 CAN Asus EN8800 GTS 640MB

If BF2 still stutters and lags with this equipment, I'm throwing the game in the garbage, end of story. As of right now, all other games run fine on the 6600GT, but BF2 runs like crap. Even Doom 3 runs better than BF2.

with that last setup you won't lag whatsover, on virtually every game on max, but i would recommend a P5B deluxe with a C2d 6400/6600, lil more cash but far better performance in multitasking, running bf2 while having a ****load of other things open, and prolly won't need to upgrade for longer, if Athlon ever gets out of their cave and does something that is.

Wow, I just got my video card today, it runs BF2 pretty nice. I don't lag except for the average player. If I had 512mb of more RAM it would be much better.

Anyone got 512mb of DDR SDRAM they want to send my way? :)
