    Major connection issue

I'm not sure whether this is a BF2 problem or a problem with my connection.

Basically the crux of the matter is that randomly, at any time of the day when I'm playing BF2 online my screen will pause for about 1 sec, then I'm at the menu screen with the message:

"your connection to the server has been lost".

Weird thing is that when I've had that before I get lag for about 10 secs before I'm back at the menu, completely unlike this time. And the funny thing is that I'm still connected to the net, I can ping the servers perfectly fine and when I attempt to rejoin after about 10 seconds I get back in. Then it all happens again.

I have done pathping, tracert and ping to all my fave servers and all is fine. I have sent a support ticket to my ISP and they agree everything is fine. I have reinstalled XP and the game numerous times. Hell I even tried Vista and all the same. I downgraded the firmware on my router as I had read about some issues with the latest ones, and the same.

This is seriously annoying me, and I can only assume that since my connection to the net doesn't drop that it's some kind of a game issue or a hardware issue. Unfortunately I don't have another on-line game to try.

    Someone help please!

      Re: Major connection issue

hi, i used to get this. when i loaded BF2 each time, the first 3 servers i joined came up with this message. it was on the 4th load that i could actually play
to be honest, i think its partly to do with your net connection and the games fault. reasons for thinking this? well, im on a wireless connection and it got bad for the first time after i switched from a wired connection. secondly, 3 weeks ago, i upgraded my broadband package to 8Meg. and guess what, i havent seen that message since.

Have you scanned youer pc for viruses, malware, adware, spyware?

        What ISP are you with?

Do you manually update PB before going into game?

Have you got any 3rd party software open whilst playing ie, messenger? If so shut them down.

bloodsport, all of these are nothing to do with it.
it is simply down to how fast your PC is and your internet connection speed.

I have heard alot of bad things with them, it could be yur ISP that is causing your issues, tho they will not admit to this. Have them check the line you are connected to!!

But i would think about moving to another ISP.

lol and who are you again!!

So you are basically saying to me you can be infected with x amounts of viruses, malware & spyware but this will noty affect your overall system performance & connection performance!! lol you just amde my day.

Listen, before you go critisising my experience i suggest you do some more research into what can and does slow internet connections down.

Although i do give you some credit, a fast pc can give a boost to the connection.

who am i? who the fvck are you? i seriously advise you take up those anger management classes up again. they obviously weren't successful.

look yeh, he has listed everthing that was wrong with mine, and now mine is sorted, from what i stated earlier. and in response to the adware crap, if you took notice i replied after he had said it was fine. of course having viruses on your pc is gonna lower performance. you must be retarded to even state something like that.

I am replying to what you said about my post..

Also because your pc had a similar problem, does not mean for one instance that his problem is identical to yours. The computers are not like the Borg.

                    Trekkie!!!
im sorry you must have read it wrong. i didnt say having viruses etc isnt bad. i simply stated that these problems are irrelevant if the OP had cleared them. so the fact that he gets exactly the same 'symptoms' as what i had means it is impossible for it to be solved the same way? go think that one over.
And who said what you put forward is the problem? so if ya wanna say my solution won't work then you have to be willing to admit yours won't either

P.S this is so getting locked:laugh:

                        Yeehaw!!!!
now im not making this up tonic, but i thought this may have been my problem too, as i've set up a LAN for the 3 or so PC's in my house. i still think it is partly responsible. even though it has sorted itself out i still get it once in a while during play, but where as it used to disconnect before my upgrade, it just lags and sorts itself out.
