    What Needs to Be Improved

sure, i probably missed a whole lot of things that i could have mentioned.
sure, some of you will probably disagree with what i have to say.
but then again, some of you might not.

anyway, i wrote another article (i posted my review a little while ago) about improvements for battlefield 2. like i said, i'm sure i coulda put a lot in there, but i didn't feel like getting into too many little details. take a look, and let me know what you guys think about it.

We've been bitching for a solid 2 years on how BF2 can be improved, and it never happens. And will never happen.

So we just don't say anything anymore, lol.

I think all that is missing from this game is some decent realistic sounds, just like the ones in the mod PR.

The devs in games seem to be forgetting that the visuals aren't just for the better, you also need high quality sounds too.

IMO, sounds arent that bad. when the game first came out i thoguht they had the best sounds ever, but now im bored with them. prob one of the reasons why i like the PR sounds better is that theyre new/different (and i love the popping/cracking noises of when the bullets whizz by ur head)

same with cs and dod. i have all new sounds/models for that game. not necessarily better quality, but different

bf2 always needed more mutliplayer game types. it was asked for but we never got them.

exactly! i put a section in my article about that. it would have been really cool to see more game types.

and i honestly can't complain about the sounds. i think they are really good. my only complaint is after a certain distance you can't hear gun shots anymore, it seems. you should be able to, even if it's a split second after you get hit.

They should be removing sounds... like the constant spam messages "spotted" "fight or I'll find someone who can" ,etc.. Or at least have included a button to disable those sounds.

These features may be included (in my suspicion) to hide the crappy sounds that they do have, that you mentioned, that's why they're so spammy. Perhaps without the spam and chatter, we'd realize how simple and crappy the sounds actually are.

Disclaimer: My settings aren't high, so I apologize if I'm talking without true knowledge of what the sounds could sound like.

yea coulda been one of the most simple things to add to the game, disable radio msgs. it would be nice to listen to the sounds nice and loud, but all u get is enemy spotted constantly so have to turn it down.
that was one thing they totally ignored even tho loads of people asked for it!

that would definitely have been nice to limit those "spotted" sounds and whatnot. they can get really annoying at times. i wouldn't say completely disable, but limit it more.

and honestly, i still think the sounds are fine. i haven't noticed any problems or any parts where i think need improvement. just MO.

Re: What Needs to Be Improved

I would have liked them to only play the 'spotted' messages to those nearby, who would actually benefit from the message. I don't need to hear, nor do I want to hear, someone spotting a Spec Ops guy on the other side of the map.

A [predetermined range] variable in the source code would have been nice, which only plays your 'spotted message' to your local area. Make exceptions in the source code for airborne units. Easy stuff, but the game developer has shown lots of shortcomings in that department. It's almost as though they purchased the game engine from someone else, and don't know how to change it to accomodate such features...

Re: What Needs to Be Improved

EA got their money, and is still getting their money from BF2 but they don't give a **** anymore about the gamers. If they did, there would be 100,000 players online, all the time instead of just 10,000.

good point, i completely agree with ya.

and the way you guys are describing EA reminds of Zipper Interactive. not sure if any of you have played the SOCOM series for the PS2, but Zipper is the same way with their customers.

Remove cone-of-fire, I`ve got the feeling that BF2 is the only game in the world (I`m dead serious) where guns are as they are, inaccurate as f*ck. I mean, even in bloody Quake and UT the weakest guns are more accurate and deadlier.
Remove lame *** sfx, insta-proning, stats and ranking.
                            Add more f*cking gamemodes.

Too bad this will never happen.

That's why I said I would have liked. I think it's one part apathy on behalf of the game developer, and one part inability to actually program it. Like I've posted before, it's like they purchased the game engine from someone else, and only have limited experience with the source code, so every change is delayed, and doesn't address the bugs everyone was concerned with.

My pellet gun is more consistent and accurate (with the arrow pellets) than most of the weapons in BF2. Truly.

Also, where is the 'realistic physics' advertised in this game? When a target charges directly into my bullets, where's the stopping power? The stuns? The canceled 'lay claymore' 'revive', deploy actions when they're hit?
Oh well, I'm waiting for the next great FPS game to come along, then BF2 is bye-bye.
