Does anyone have any advice on what mods I should install? Which ones are most commonly played? Do most people play SF? I just started playing BF2 and would like a little guidance. I'm a decent player but it doesn't seem like there are many different people on the servers I play. Many of the same people every day.

yeah i would recommend Project Reality http://www.realitymod.com
but its not everyone's cup of tea. IMO, i love it for the realism, but forsome ppl it mite be too slow and its alot harder than regular bf2.
but if i were u, id keep playing bf2 until u get bored of it, and then move onto mods. bf2 was prob the most fun game i had played when i first startedbut after a ton of hours it got somewhat tiresome which is why i turned to mods.Comment

Get Project Reality, great mod. Very different from vanila BF2. No none-sence. Whatever most people do on BF2 will not work in PR - it's all about team work.
One major dissapoinment in this mod is when you die you have to wait ages to respawn, and I think every time you die, 1 second is added to your spawn time - just have to stay alive...Comment

yeah the spawn time is annoying...i wish there was another way like maybe a choice to spawn at the main base if u wait 15s and a choice to spawn at a gathering point after the 30sComment

Best thing is to try them all and go from there. And don't forget to give DCon a try. A new patch is in the works and lots of new toys will be in our next release.Comment

I have to agree with Garabaldi, You should download and try them all if you can as they all Rock :rock: It's difficult to recommend one over another however if I was forced to choose I would suggest either DCON, Project Reality or EOD.
I would like to reiterate what another member suggested and that is to check out the mod section on the forums here and go take the time to check out the individual mod sites to help you decide.
Also I only mention this because of a post you made in another section of the forums. Be advised that mod servers that are showing a Ranked symbol are actually not Ranked via the official ranking system.
There are alternative ranking system in use for mod servers however remember any score you get on a mod server will not be reported on the official system.
Now with that said I still strongly urge you to check out some of the mods as they are at minimum 10 times better than the stock game itself.

No if you have no mods installed and your just playing vanilla Bf2 you want to make sure that you have ranked & same version only checked so that the browser only shows ranked servers that report stats to EA.
The other filter options I have check in the screen shot I posted should also be checked to help eliminate server you don’t want to sift through. Also if you’re playing on ranked servers you need to make sure you have the Punk Buster option checked in the filter.
Once you install the mods you can also use the same mod option in the filters to help you find servers that are hosting the mod you’re trying to play.
