no you dont need an expansion pack just get ranked and you will be abile to unlock the A96 if you got the special force u will just have a free unlock its not like u wont get the wepon if u didnt buy the expansion pack

Actually you can find the weapon on the sunken ship on Wake Island. When you pick it up, it shows up in you kit selection menu forever.

Side note: Be careful, because there are also flesh eating zombies guarding the inside of the ship.

umm..yes it is.....if you havent logged any minutes in special forces, the second tier unlocks wont be available to you

i dont do that until im sure he hasnt in fact used the search function and come up empty....it happens...

You can use the L96 if you kill someone who has it, and you pick up their kit.

You cannot choose it in the weapons/kit selection screen unless you play Special Forces and unlock it.

You don't have to buy SF you just have to play a round on it.

Also, do you have this requirment (sometimes the system file is left out/ weird glitch):
