Commanders With Their *** In The Grass

No surprise to see most folks don't want to play commander. No surprise to see either that a team with one streaks ahead on points.

Strange innit? No matter how many Snipers on a team, it's communication and direction that makes a team win. Easily.

So sometimes I'm forced to play commander, but I want to be in the field too. One of my probs is I play in a cafe and don't have voice comms.

I play only three times a week or so, and usually to let off steam. Myself, I like zipping between hats and helping the team out. But note - i only do this when there's no one else up for it.

So this post's a shout for comments on playing this specific role - Commander In the Field.

    My noobs guide.
    • Message everyone you're commanding. Tell em to feel free to ask for everything when they need it. Tell em to squad up - and kick *** til they do. usually, the right peeps get the message, and you can work with em from there.
    • Play as Medic. This strengthens your team support role, and helps you stay in the game as long as possible.
    • Stay back.
    • Unless you play on point. Sometimes, after a scan, with the teams concentrated in an area, I'll sneak up to distant/strategic flags and cap em. Fair use of UAV and maybe Supplies, one time only. This has helped us come back from the dead on a number of occasions.
    • When consulting the map, get cover. You'd be surprised the number of dudes you can take out staring at the sky.... (or maybe that's the effect of something else... )
    • Don't forget - when you issue commands, chuck baggies etc, you automatically shout soemthing - giving away your position. I always play with foreign languages on (my Arabic's comin on nice..), and anything else I hear has helped me track em down.

Thassall. If playin this role is against your religion, please take it somewhere else, and only add stuff to help out the post.

    Keep winnin.

    Ciao, bellos!

Good advice for newbies. As a commander you should always be thinking of messing up the other commanders life...

    Cheers

but then - i just realised - these pages are great advice for newbies. NEWBIES WHO PLAY TEAM.

reading posts, it's mostly the same dudes contributing and commenting. and millions out there who don't....

i mentioned i play in a cafe. well, i get to see other noobz playing. and it's pretty sick. i think they think they're playin Half Life or somethin. TKs all the way, playing just for kills, hoggin their baggies and paddles.

BTW - am not beyachin - just flaggin!

Don't forget to give orders, and type when necassary (dead, they aren't listening, etc.). Would be nice for EA to implement a 'Disband squad' feature to get rid of the one's that do their own thing, but then again arty does nice too. My biggest problem when I command is no one seems to bloody listen too me, yea sure the occasional ONE squad that follows orders well but then you have the other 26 players that are either bad at listening or just don't listen at all...uphill battle for a good commander.

Looks like people have forgotten about this handy-dandy guide.

Twice a day, minimum, I get some fool telling me that they don't care about my orders. They just want me to give them UAV.

So, as a colonel, I make it a life mission to take the commander position, and not support my team at all. When the whining starts, I simply tell them: "well, maybe you should follow orders from now on. I don't HAVE to help you."

2 or 3 rounds later, with me as the only mofo that ever commands, some squads actually do what I want, and the tempermental little ****s who laughed at my position have rage quit.

I always win. The only difference is in the time taken.

thanks for the amusing link, MrBenis. i think it saves a great deal of time writing exactly the same thing.

but - ... i only go commander and play in the field when we're down and no one wants command. the benefits of even having a field commander obviously outwiegh those of no commander at all.
