    Sound issues in Windows x64

    Hi,

I've been having some problems getting BF2 (and 2142) to make use of my Audigy 2 ZS soundcard while running Windows x64 edition. Whenever I go to the audio options menu and check off the hardware option, all the menu music stops and I only get a few sound effects.

When I join a game, there are sound effects, but some are missing (the center channel is completely gone so I don't hear my own gun fire).

I have used this same card in regular 32 bit windows without any issue. I could format and go back to 32 bit, but that is a pain in the *** and I don't want to do it.

I have re-installed the drivers from Creative to no effect. I know that BF2 is picky about hardware changes, so maybe I should try re-installing the game?

Anyways, does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Here are my system specs just in case:

    Pentium D 805 @ 3.32GHz
    2GB
    ASUS P5B
    GF 7900GT
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Windows XP Professional 64 bit edition.

    Thanks.

Try going into my documents and deleting the files in the profile folder. You will then need to adjust all your game settings again. Also delete the cashe files.
If that dont work then yeah try reinstalling BF2 if your sure you have the correct drivers.

Have a good look around here,

It isn't a Vista 64 (or 32 for that matter) problem, it is a Creative problem and getting proper working drivers.

the center channel is completely gone so I don't hear my own gun fire
Try using headphones, 5.1 doesn't work properly in Vista yet, but headphones work fine. Reason for saying headphones are OK is I to am running Vista 64 but with an Audigy 4 and the game sounds the same as it does in XP.

Thanks for the link, I'll take a look.

BTW, I'm not running Vista. I am running XP Pro 64bit edition.

Heh, thats the first place I went.... They told me to come here!

            I fixed the problem....
All I had to do is switch my audio setting from 5.1 to 7.1.
Its weird because I only have 5.1 speakers. Anyways its working now.

            Thanks for your help.
