  • How well will BF2 run with the upgrade?

    Hi,

Right now I have to run on all low except for geometries on high and view distance on 100%. I was wondering if I upgraded my graphics card I would be able to raise my graphics settings?

What graphics settings could I use with a:

    3.06GHz Celeron D
    1.5GB PC3200 DDR
    7600GS GDDR2 256MB

And keep it at a stable FPS?

And what graphics settings would I be able to run with a 7800GS GDDR3 256MB??

Also will a 480W PSU even support those cards?

Still not very much better. If you have to get anything other than a Core 2 Duo/Quad, get an AMD processor.

    AMD Athlon XP 64

    2GB PC4200 DDR

    x1950 Pro, or 7900GTX

And at least a GOOD 480W PSU with 20A+ on the 12V rails.

pentium 4 Extreme, and the best AGP card is the X1950 pro or 7800 GS

In all honesty mate, you could put a 7800gs or 1950pro in it and you would be able to play mostly on high without too many dramas. But i personally reckon your best bet would be to get a 1950pro and then stick in 512 ram if you have the space and can afford it.

there can not be a 100% perfect general advice. you will have to increase the quality settings step by step to get the monst out of your hardware.

                        my advice:
before you spend money on any new hardware, you should better save your money for a new system with a core2duo + 2GB DDR2 ram + a DX10 gfx card (ati cards coming soon, expect nvidia prices to drop again then ).

                          Hey,
Trust me - if I could do that, I would. I'm a student in college and money isn't largely available so for the next few years I'm going to be a few steps behind the current generation thing.. The one playing on all low.

Okay.. That's true that you can't give me details. But would a 7600GS run all medium with this..?

                          Celeron D 3.06Ghz
                          1.5GB PC3200 DDR
                          7600GS 512MB

If not, would a 7800GS do the trick?

Thanks for the site, Sniper. Bookmarked.

yeah the 7600 GS will play all medium at a 1024X768 rez, but why not the 7600 GT? its cheap as well but if you insist on the GS at least get the extreme edition from XFX that comes with higher clock speeds standard

                              Hmm I'll check it out.. Is a GDDR2 7600GT worse than a GDDR3 7600GS?
