Technically it shouldn't be called that because not every weapon being discussed is a rifle in this thread....
You need to look up GUN in a dictionary seriously.
1. a weapon consisting of a metal tube, with mechanical attachments, from which projectiles are shot by the force of an explosive; a piece of ordnance.
