There are no more BF2 patches (SEMI-OFFICIAL)

While this is not official, and will never be because EA is a company like that, rest assured that there will be no further patches for BF2.

This comes from a former DICE member, who is now working at a new studio (http://www.redjade.com/), with several other ex-DICE developers. He states that 1.41 was the last patch, where after ALL devs were shifted to 2142.

As a matter of fact, it was known by EA/DICE way back in Summer 2006 that 1.4 would be the last patch, 1.41 only being a minor one.

Naturally EA will never reveal this, since many would be discouraged to play BF2 again, and since 2142 isn't as popular, fans would probably be gone forever.

Consider the fact that 2142 is buggy, laggy and full of exploits, it's of no surprise BF2 is done and over.

1.41 was the last patch EA will not come back. They have not said anything offical but they have the mindset of why give support to a game people already paid for when we can just get them to buy a new game.

If you are waiting on news of a new patch its like watching a ball in the air and wondering if it will come down.

The fact that they didn't bother to make a 1.41 incremental makes it pretty clear that there were only like 1-2 developers still working on BF2.

I have to admit, despite the bugs, it's still one of the best FPS games I've ever played. Tons of fun has been had and there are numerous awesome mods to keep it on my hard drive. 2142 is dying quickly, BF2 still has time to live! :)

Even if/when the decision is final EA will probably never release that fact officially. For that matter, how many games have had their developer/publisher say officially "no more patches"? It just becomes obvious at some point.

Whether DICE just wanted this for info for a new BF game, getting info from the community with the hope of patch remains to be seen

Anyway we've been badgering him for a summary of the thread and heres the current status:
heres what he asked and the answers:

Q. Will there be another patch for Battlefield 2?

A. There is no concrete answer to that question at this time because the process for getting a patch approved is a complicated one that is not solved by saying "should we make another patch?", "yes".

I realise it's frustrating not to know, however at present there is no answer beyond the one given. As soon as the answer changes you'll have it.

If the answer were "no" you'd have it straight away. Given that Battlefield 2 no longer generates any revenue for EA outside of further copies of the game being sold there is no sense in keeping players in the game on the strength of a lie as it'll merely cause further annoyance among those waiting.

Similarly, if and when the answer turns out to be "yes" you can be almost certain that it will not address every nuance of the game you currently take issue with. This is not because EA/Dice are not listening, nor is it because we don't care, rather it is because you cannot please all the people all the time, however the recent summary thread was intended to give a clear indication of what singular and common issues most players still want resolved, and what lessons should be learned from Battlefield 2 for any future games.

The report we've compiled here based on that thread is complete, and apologies for my not posting it on time, however Sentience will be posting it early tomorrow.

I think if theyre going to use the info for a new BF game there will probably be a small patch to tide everyone over as a gesture for those that didnt move to 2142, but i could be wrong :)

Maybe, but it will only be in an attempt to save their reputation. They are going to come back and say how much they care about us, and that's why they returned to BF2 EA/DICE has been on my hate list for quite a while now. They need to get their act together and stop making stupid decisions.

EA sucks at support it took them 106 days to end the CTD night mare
