WTF am I doing wrong?

It seems to take me an entire magazine to kill anyone... why? Even at 2 metres.... the whole magazine must be used up. I'm shooting at the head and upper torso here. Just now I got the jump on someone, before they could any shots off I had already used half the magazine, they begin shooting at me, I'm still shooting and hitting yet they do not die and I do? I nearly through the entire computer out of the window.


Lined up target. Check

Bursts of gun fire at timed intervals to avoid recoil. Check.


Either the game is fubar or I just have the worst luck in the world for BF2. Wouldn't mind so much if K's weren't shown but I'm always getting something like 10 kills and 11 deaths.... or i'm breaking even which is heavily unsatisfactory.

F**King irritating is all I can say.

Alittle patience helps too, you don't learn how to play l33t in a day :P

Sometimes, in fact rather often, people with scores like 45/2 (K/D) or greater are spamming a certain vehicle or point. Snipers, Tank Whores, Def. a Jet Spammer or 2 .

And evey once and a while they're just plain good lol.

Back to my point though, it takes time to gain the "situational awareness" that'll ensure you get a good score, knowing what situations u can end out on top of, and how to react to unexcepted enemy fire. Just keep playing like your playing and find what weapons fit you best, work from there.

Which guns are you using? We can offer specific tips for certain kits/weapons then.

The game is fubar. The cone of fire is so bad in BF2, I don't even bother with infy unless it's BF2Pro.

I tend to use single shot mode unless im right net to the enemy

It sounds like you are just describing a case of bad netcode/hit detection.

It's kinda hard to tell one what he's doing wrong because he's doing nothing wrong. He's only missing the experience and not trusting he can kill someone. Take a weapon like AK, it can kill just about anything at any distance. But still only few do that. I don't know why.

Your problem is that you're shooting them. Stab them!!!

Seriously, could be lag (ping), could be that you're getting a bit excited and while you think you're hitting their head/torso you're actually shooting over their head or to the side. Do you pretty much stand still or do you strafe left/right while firing? Also, as someone else said, the weapon makes a significant difference.

i dont know why everyone complains about the cone of fire, weapons arent quite as accurate as i would like, but ive never had a problem hitting anything from med range on single with any gun (except subs or shotty).

crouch before firing at distances, and remember, weapons don't always hit where you want + bad coding = problems..

Played another round, after I had cooled off. Went better.

I use the M16 and AK variants. It just gets annoying when you take the time to line up a target, get your shots off when its stationary only to have them bunny hop in the air and practically one shot you.

Could play Counterstrike but it's not my scene.
