  • Jumping back into bf2

I started playing a while ago, and have been bored out of my mind recently, so I decided to pick the game up again. I stopped playing due to a move and some random things going on. I have a few questions. If this is the wrong forum sorry.

    1) How is the population of the game? Is it dying out due to other games being released?

    2) What are some popular mods being used today

    and

    3) Are there any programs I should pick up to browse for servers or other things of the sort.

    Thanks for the help.

no, actually, this has way more players than 2142, but be advised, this number will drop significantly after Quake Wars comes out.

No it wont QW qont be much more succesfull then 2142 it will have a breif period of succes but then it will lose popularity quickly same for crysis. BF2 will be around for at least a year. Futuristic games lack the fell that moderen and historically accurate games have.= to keep people coming back to them.

I agree. I really wanted to like 2142, but I prefer current settings to some futuristic crap.

Still more than enough people so you will never have trouble finding a game.

                2) What are some popular mods being used today

                Project Reality (http://realitymod.com)

QTracker, I think? I believe there is a stickied thread in this forum.

                  Re: Jumping back into bf2

I'm considering going back to BF2 as well, that's why I joined this forum. Btw I don't understand why 2142 and Quake Wars should affect the popularity of BF2 when they are totally different from BF2. For a person that's not into some unrealistic sci-fi games but into as-real-as-it-gets modern combat, BF2 is one of a kind.

                    1) No

                    2) Project reality (the only mod you need since it blows everything else out of the water!)

                    3) There are some as mentioned above but you don't really need them. You can always find good servers through BFHQ.

You cant buy over a Modern combat fan base with futuristic games and games like ET:QW. BF2 will only be replaced by anoother Modern Combat FPS of the same type.
