What is the favorite PR maps?

I just put up a PR server 2 weeks ago and I've had approx. a total of 210 players show during that time. I know that Tactical gamers, Devfile and a few others are full but there has to be more players out there.

To cut thru the chase and to find out what would make a successful server. What maps are the best in PR?

I find that Al Basrah, Muttrah city and Operation Phoenix is the most played. Then again, I could be wrong. My favorites are OP Phoenix, EJOD, Jabal, Helmand, Qwai1 and Inishail Forest.

And if you're looking for a server to play on, look for BF2 Suicide Command Post.

Airport: Good map, mostly infantry, takes actually some tactics to play this. Good snipers can cause great havoc. Overall nice small map for squad level tactics. Also has it's cons which make it pretty uncomfortable sometimes. Good with all sizes.

Goods Station: Excellent map. Tactics, positioning and timing is everything, especially if tickets are low because it does not allow failing. Only 16p which is a good thing.

Helmand Province : Again, takes some tactics, but a lil too straightforward.

Mao Valley : I like jungle, and Mao is a very decent jungle map. Again, size does not really matter.

Al Fallujah : Decent map but gets boring quickly. I like chokepoints and this is pretty much the only map which has any. Not worth of playing anymore IMO, repeats itself.

The best maps are those where tactics if used right win the round. Not many maps actually allow squad level tactics anymore, because you need at least two to three squads to get forward because you can cap multiple flags. Most of the time it's just pain because your squad has no affect on the final result. All you can do is frag and frag some more.

If I'd run a full time PR server I would run small maps and high players and lots of tickets, so that no one gets bored.

16p maps are interesting and fun and actually generate some frontlines. Besides they're not played that much.

Thanks to all of you who voted. After a good night of playing and seeing what maps filled the BF2 Suicide Command Post server. I decided that I'll take the input from tonights game and your poll and come up with a good mix of maps. The map list came to this: Albasrah, Ejod Desert, Jabal, Muttrah, Operation Ghost train, Qwai1, and Sunset City. All 64 player maps on a 50 max player server. 4 Squads of 6 with one Commander per side. I think this will be a awesome setup for some good squad tactics and team play.

Anyways, this is a trial and error for a week. What do you think, will this rotaion make it or be a bust?

Oh, BTW, any of you PR MOD guys want to talk to me about a map idea on Afghanistan, let me know, I have one year experience at Bagrum AFB, Salerno FOB, and Oregandy FOB. I was with HMLA-773 Red Dogs during that time. Mail me: jdlarkin@larkinville.com.

1 suggestion is that you should not run muttrah on the 64 version, run it on the 32 its far more blanced even thou it still dont really work with the new PR config, it was made over a year ago for v0.3 and the mod has changed alot since then and basicly, the mod has outgrown the map :p
thou it still can be good fun :)

Qwai River & Mao Valley for me - dense jungle ftw! Mao Valley could use another transport chopper, some bikes or a pair of cars, as there's quite a bit of walking between some outposts. Another transport chopper would probably be the better choice, cause as I said, it's dense jungle.

I took your suggestion and went to 32 on Muttrah. I like it better that way myself, more skill to play it and less boring. On the map idea, I know you have enough as it is, but I was talking of actual missions that took place in Afghanistan and the tactics used by the Marines along with CIA ops. I have a little in sight on that without giving too much info to hurt me. Needless to say, of the two missions, we were there when Pat Tillman (NFL) was killed unfortunitely. It was a nasty situation and fire fight.
