Hi all, I can't work this out, I'll give you a background of my situation. I built this system 6 months ago with a gigabyte s3 mobo and a E6400 core 2 cpu. With the standard fan idle cpu temps were around the 41-43 degrees celcius. I wanted to try some overclocking so I got a zalman 9500LED cooler for it. This dropped the temps to30-33 degrees range with stock clock settings. A month or so ago I put in an Asus P5B motherboard coz the gigabyte one became faulty. I'm looking to overclock again now because the E6400 is bottlenecking the system since i put an 8800GTS card in. So I checked the temps at stock clock speeds as a reference and it's reporting them at 45-50 degrees at idle. I've redone the thermal paste, cleaned any dust out of the fan and while this seemed to help but a couple of degrees only it leaves me baffled to why my cpu temps have gone up 13 or so degrees. Has anyone got any ideas why? THe only things different in the scenario is the motherboard and the 8800. I'm starting to think the temp reporting of the motherboard is inaccurate.
