    BF2 Won't Start

    Hi guys,
Firstly, I have searched the 9 pages in this forum and I cannot find another example of this specific problem. If you can find a thread, please feel free to direct me to it.

I've got a problem with BF2 in that it starts and then returns to the desktop. I'm running BF2 with the 1.41 patch. I am not running any of the add-on games nor are they installed on this machine

I can see that the process is still running in the background, but no game. The process that is hanging is called e50001.dir. It refers to the Docs & settings/user/local settings/temp folder. The game has run OK for quite a while on this machine and only stopped recently.

    I've undertaken the following:

    1. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and patch 1.41 a number of times
    2. I've uninstalled and installed updated graphics drivers
    3. I've disabled the firewall and anti virus software.

As I noted above, the game was working normally until 2-3 weeks ago. Nothing has changed on the machine.

Can anyone suggest how i can overcome this problem?

    thanks

go into my documents and delete the folder labled battlefield 2, try to see if this changes anything you will need to re-enter your user ID and passowerd tho. if this does not help post your system specs

I've tried deleting the My Docs/Bf2 folder and still no luck.

The machine i'm running it on has the following:
      AMD Turion 64 Mobile ML-37 1.6GHz
      1GB of RAM

As i noted above, the game was running perfectly up until a few weeks ago.
