I enjoyed it, to be fair, but, it got so boring at times.
I did like the fact that the British voices didn't sound like they were brought up in the 19th century, sounding all "posh" and "upper class" (that annoys me on BFSF)
Yeah, it did have a chance to "over take" BF2, but it failed...miserably
I wouldn't worry about it. 2142 seems to have flopped, so I can see BF2 hanging around for a bit longer. Your only concern should be when EA will pull the plug on the stats system.
When EA pulls the plug on the stats does that mean we can't play online anymore?
My only regret would be losing my m95, no stock rifle can shoot people out of uncaps.

Ok, people. BF2 is on the top 10 because its been out longer. It has had time for the word to spread and for people to have played it and been able to save money to buy it. Its availability is what has made the # of players so high compared to 2142. It is obvious that many people are not even willing to give 2142 a try because of all the crap that has happened to BF2. Additionally you can buy BF2 and all 3 expansions for 25$ whereas 2142 is about 44$ and is still relatively new to the market.
But I also understand why so many people (especially in this thread) are not willing to make the change from nade spamming I/O whores, unwavering scopes and simply basic gameplay to a world of improvement. 2142 offers about 48 unlocks compared to the 12 or so in BF2. You get an unlock every time you rank up in 2142. The scopes waver according to your stance, and it is quite balanced gameplay compared to BF2 and all the complaints of the J-10 etc.
So I say don't _***** if you haven't given the game a solid go because then you are harping while inexperienced.

When EA pull the plug, I'd hope they'd make the unlocks available to all.
Either that or a mod.
Or they could make it so it's like bf1942 and vietnam where you don't login you just pick a name and go and a patch could be realsed so you can multipay without conencting to EA

I agree with you 100% there. The cone of fire is so bad, I'm just waiting till I get into a firefight, and the game pauses, and a coin is flipped, because thats how firefights are determined in that game.

Are you kidding? LOL, first of all, there are only about 20 servers out of BF2 that are full of "nade spamming I/O whores", That stuff only happens on 64 player IO karkand servers. People are not willing to make the change because 2142 is so noob friendly, and everything is dumbed down. Do you ever hear people complain why CS:S is so bad compared to cs? Thats the same situation here, 2142 takes out a lot of the skilled gameplay (soloing, choppers, jets, bunnyhopping, instaproning,one shot HS weapons, any vehicle practically) so anyone who is experienced in the game will hate it, because how "dumbed down" the game is. People don't have a problem changing, its just changing to a game that makes it easier for noobs, that turns people off.

Yea, again, to make it easier for noob players, you only have to play for like 10 minutes to get any good unlock.

gameplay is NOT ballenced, it is EQUALIZED. Vehicles make almost no difference in the outcome of the battle, because of the littered AA's, anti-tank things, weak vehicles, super arty that does no damage to infantry, but will kill a vehicle in 1 hit, and retarded-ly LONG vehicle spawn times. It's pretty much karkand IO, but instead of nades, there's an APM at every corner. (for those who haven't played, APM's are practically the same thing as BF2's claymore, but given to the sniper, AND spec-ops kit, so they are spammed like no tomorrow, and ranked servers FORCE them to NOT kill teamates)
