Vista problem

I just had a high-end PC built for me with the Vista O/S.

I installed BattleField2 and the 1.41 full patch.

BF2 runs great, but when I try to reboot the system, it hangs
and will NOT come up.

I created a System Restore point just prior to the install and
did a restore after failing to boot properly. The system came
up fine after the restore.

I've notice a few threads about running BF2 in "compatable" mode,
but this wouldn't apply since I can't get the system to come up.

Any suggestions???

Try turning off the Main Power and then back on.?

Hey man I have this same issue. Seems when it shuts down and goes to restart no display but comp is running ( if yours does this)
it takes a second boot for soem Retarded reason. once you hold the pwr button down and start it a second time.. it will start.. investigating this issue now as I had it for a few days now. along with a few otehr Vista bugs.. like deteriating connections.. 2nd and third map slow downs. dont mess with your box config too much as I have wnet thru every piece of gear from vid drivers and network devices.. everyting is new now lol.. yet Vista is still an issue with BF2 or vice versa. Direct 10 is suppposed to fix crap but i got a feeling even the most savy of boxes may need more powr when 10 hits us in the forhead.


a day or 2 i should have a fix. ( yes i tried replacing bios to be sure it wasnt a diff issue as I had a IRC bot not to long ago Fn my ISP over.

48 hours max should be a fix for it :)

OK man I got it.. a way to Boost performance in VISTA with BF2

Follow directions I have here.





Click on start, then right click in computer, select properties, once the window is open click on advenced system settings,
system properties is now open,
click on the advance tab, under performance click on settings, then in visual effects press adjust for best performance,
press apply,
u should see a big change in your UI now, before closing that we are going to set some visual effects that does not use many memory and make more comfortable the use of windows, in the boxes select this visual effects only

OPTIONAL

show thumbnails instead of icons
show translucent selection rectangle
smooth edges of screen fonts
use dropshadows for icon labels on the desktop
use visual style on windows and buttons

hit apply.
then go to advanced in that same window, and you are going to change ur pagefile from system managed to custom set initial value to 3500, max size 3500
