High Ping Problem

Hey, I recently got Battlefield 2 and it kick ***, but I haven't been able to enjoy it because I keep on getting kickeed out of servers for having a high ping from 180-1000 lol. Anyways I have a 100mbps connection 512 RAM, Nvidia Geforce 6600 LE 256mb, and a AMD 64 Athlon3300 procesor, and i can run battlfield 2 on high settings without no lag. So what can be causing the high ping?

Your internet connection / ISP. If they are doing work on the lines or are adding more people in your neighborhood, your ping could be getting shafted!!!

It seems when I join U.S. servers (I live in the US) my ping is very low, If I join servers in other countries does it make it higher?

update pb mite help
also make sure bf2 isnt conflicting with ur firewall (most likely ur using microsoft default firewall, so make sure it is on the allowed list)

edit: yeah location does play a big role. i get alot of lag if im not playing in US servers

Yea I got the Windows Firewall, but is it any good? Or should I get another one?

it should be enuff...but i think ur only prob is just to keep playing in servers in the US and update pb

yea I've noticed alot of people have high pings, and I've been sticking to US servers and my ping has been fine

windows firewall work's but thats all it does if i was you i would download zone alarm it's free and very good that might help

Seeing as i live down in Aus, and my fav server is in Philidelphia, my ping never drops below 200, usually sits around 280-350, but it gets as high as 800 when our firewall is flooded.... but location does play a big role, how many servers are down here in Aus? pfft.. none... at least that i've seen....

Like 50 Gamearena and Internode servers... :|: Plus 100 more unnoficial Aussie servers. You didn't think Australia would be without any servers did you? Gamearena and Internode are both really good and i feel sorry that you have been missing out. There both fantastic, just type each in to the menu search engine, you should find about 20 serves under each name.

There is also Xtra and ICONZ.

one prob, they have ping limiters...and they kick me out for a ping rating higher than 150-200.... the only server i play is one of the 24/7 Strike at Karkand servers...

If you live in Australia you really shouldn't have 150-200 pings for Aussie servers.

it normally starts out at like 500, then drops a bit, then it kicks me...i guess it doesn't give me enough time to drop my ping ratin'....thank god for no ping limiter servers...
