Recently I have been commanding a lot more. I noticed something that helps squads follow orders is usining the V button to talk to all of the squad leaders. If they still don't follow orders I rebuke them about 100 times (just kidding only 3 or 4 times) they don't take an order UNLESS they set a new order or give me a reason for denying. So I have won my past matches with 100 points. That's a lot for me. lol. So if you are a squad leader and get an order but deny it please tell the commander why. I think this will make BF2 a little more team based. Just an idea though. What do you guys do anything to be a better commander/squad leader?

Re: Commander and Squad Leader
Thank you for being a decent commander, giving out orders instead of sitting there doing bugger all, unlike some players out there.
I'm often a squad leader because I enjoy the fact a single order can, theoretically be the difference to winning, or losing, a match.
But I'm not a commander as much. I've done it a few times, claimed by basic command badge and so on, but no one seems to listen to any orders I give. I kinda find it hard to keep track of what squads are doing, giving them orders and handling requests (such as UAV or supply drop). I suppose I'll get better with practice.
Either way, continue being a commander yourself. I hope to see you as a commander in action a server at some point.
Cheers. -

Don't wanna' sound negative or anything, or bash the thread but...
Where the heck you been the past couple years? I mean duhh, that's what VOIP is for...
More people need to use it. Sad thing is, when you do get a good commander doing what you do, most people complain.
Go figure.
Edit - If you also act as ATC on air maps, let me know. It'd be nice to have a controlled environment on a map like Wake so for once I won't get rammed by a friendly jet while Im repairing.Comment

Re: Commander and Squad Leader
My friends and I always play for the win and we are in a squad working together. Will my SL listen to the commander always? No. But he will use information the Commander gives us. Luckily, our SL is good at commanding and being a SL. But when Ic ommand, I rarely give commands becacuse most people won't listen. I tend to see myself as an information officer and the players will do what they want to do.Comment

Yeah, I do ATC on maps if I need to. I know how congested it can get.Originally posted by AncientSerpent3Don't wanna' sound negative or anything, or bash the thread but...

Re: Commander and Squad Leader
IMO, commanding is only good to give artillery and UAV (not supplies cuz it takes too long to refill ammo and health so its not as useful)
SL's mite follow the orders and go attack a point, but everytime i command, the squad never obeys my order, or they mite accept the waypoint, but go wander off somewhere else. and the Squadmembers dont really stick togehter. theyre more scattered around the map, and i could try yelling them via the V key, but they just ignore me. bahComment

Re: Commander and Squad Leader
Good commander well played my friend. Makes a huge change to see someone who can command like me. I tell teams if a flag is clear or when a tank is comming in towards the flag
I have seen some dumb commanders for example not using the UAV or pointing out any person in the area of a flag. I have even seen a noob playing whilst commanding and each time getting his arsed kick by the other side. Last on why do people play as commander I know it down to points but when you have just started out it best surley to learn in single player or hide away. I hardly ever play just hide away and if I get killed so be it.Comment

Re: Commander and Squad Leader
hard to find good commanders that use VIOP, but i listen and usually coordinate with them through voip, they will help my squad out more if i respond to them, if i won't follow a particular order i will let the commander know why, like last night, telling us to defend a flag my hole team was spawning from with no enemies in site, also, why is it those servers that kick for commanders who fight never get the ones that sit idle and do nothing, no response when asking for UAV supplies etc, they just sit afk and watch to or something yet never get kicked argh, oh and the commanders that think it is cool to keep dropping supplies on the ENEMIES tank, there sure is alot of those.Comment

Re: Commander and Squad Leader
I love the commander that chases his largest squad with artillary, like when you go to a base, turn it white, then he puts artillary there.Originally posted by SyDuSoh and the commanders that think it is cool to keep dropping supplies on the ENEMIES tank, there sure is alot of those.Comment
