A Message for the bf2 mods

STOP RELEASING MOD AT THE SAME TIME

    Here goes my rant

Lets start of by saying. I like BF2 Mods currently out there and it's great your releasing them; But your potential for your mod being a success is being wreak if you rush the release of a mod or release it the same week of another. With taking into consideration the players and the community need some time to play them. Not confuse or flood them with choices; If you do that nobody going to have time to play your mod

Take EoD and DCON. These two great mods with great prestige following

The problem is when you release two popular mod after a week of each other. Your going to run into problems from adoption and popularity on two sides - the Players and the Gaming Community Admins

Heres what can hurt a mod
    Players
Choice - Choice is good. Too much choice and you flood the scene
Homeless Gamers - Not enough servers... I'll explain abit more next
Follow the pack - Gamers want to follow what others or clan mates are playing. Which can hurt a games popularity
Around the corner: Players want server locally to there area/region

    Game Community server:

Resources - Not enough server hardware to run games. Especially when two great mods come out at the same time. It can be difficult for admins to find somewhere to run the mod on
Utilisation - Here in Australia. Gamearena has said for them to be running BF2 mods the server is on probation; One of the requirement is the server must be reasonable full every-night to continue running mod

So if your going to release a mod or update in future. Please don't at the same time as another space your mod release date out. So it won't mix together with another

    Anyway that's my rant

Mods alot like great painting. You need time to absorb them and take them in alittle

They release when they are done or so I am told a million times. Guess they were both done at the same time. Other than these two, most mods releases have been sluggish but only a few get play time. The big issue is only a small number of people are playing mods.

It is not a problem for me though, I play what I enjoy. I will be playing EOD tonight but that does not mean I will not be playing POE as well! Now when Forgotten Hope and Pirates come out, then my time might start to get short.

Thanks to Black Sand Studios, we do have several large mods cooperating and I'm sure they coordinate their releases. DCon is not a part of that, so they basically release whenever they want without consulting anyone else. It's all just based on how much the mod teams actually communicate. You can't really blame them for wanting to get a finished (or at least playable) version out to the hungry masses as soon as it's done.

I like to think of it as more of a nice double bonus...if, say, USI and DCon were released this close together we'd probably have serious issues. But DCon and EoD are further apart in terms of theme/gameplay, so in my opinion it's awesome to be able to play both. Your points make sense though.

From what I understanc, BSS didn't really want DCON in with the others. Or they were were never offered in, or something like that.

Anyway, its not a good point really, just some rant. The other mods that cam out on thier own schedule are mostly dead, so its a free for all.

I loved the TommyGun(Thompson with 50 round drum) in that mod for BF1942.

Like they have said 1000000 times , there is no release date , its done when its done but they think it might be ready sometime around summer so not that long . And just because they have not released any updates does not mean they are not working

Their will always be complaners most mods are based off of a developers vision of a game which is going to diffrer from difrent members of the community. no matter what you do someone will complane ont he froums because forums were just an invention for mans deep desire to complane.

Releases are one thing, if its finished put it out. Its the lame media releases that some mods are doing to try and overshadow the release of another mod. Really childish moves back and forth and it looks like total is finally bumping the release mods news post to the top to try and stop the minimal updates from stealing momentum or attention.

Hopefully none of the teams are so petty as to do things like that unpurpose. For the most part, these are just groups of guys who want to have as many fun games as possible.
