So, PROBLEMS!
I hate doing this.
My computer meets all the specs to run BF2. I'm not going into detail, because I'm sure it's not my actual computer.
My Graphics card, on the other hand, is a Radeon 9250. Now. I've played WC3, WoW, and CS:S on high settings to experience only small lags, but BF2 won't even RUN.
I assume I have the PCI version, even though back when I bought it I didn't care. The AGP settings are grayed out in the control center.
I have the newest drivers, and I JUST reinstalled XP Home. So I know it's not a driver problem. I have DX 9, and I have hardware acceleration set to the highest.
The game runs, plays the starting videos of EA and a logo. Then the BF2 splash.
It then flashes to a screen of fuzz, as if a TV were about to play. The fuzz freezes, and the mouse does too. About 30 seconds later my monitor turns on and off, as if switching resolutions, and comes back a black screen with the BF2 mouse. It continues to switch on and off with no results until I get a VTU error from catalyst.
Any resolutions to this problem?
Buying a new video card is my LAST option.
