What do i need for best BF2 graphics?

I recently started playing BF2 I'm having alot of fun just one problem i cant play at top notch graphic settings cause it lags the gameplay, and i dont like to settle for low or medium grpahics so i was wondering what my computer is missing so that i could get both smooth gameplay & best graphics

This is what i have at the moment:

Pentium 4 , 3.0 GHz
1GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT

I'm not an expert in computer but my best guess would be to get more ram, but before i spend my money i felt more comfortable asking around.

7800GTX is in the same **** league as 7600GT.

get 8800GTS 320 mb...probably best card for money.

Your cpu isn't great neither...but i think it should handle the game on high. So just get another 1 gb stick of ram and new gfx

yeah it may be in the same league but it still should handle playing the game with everything on high but only if everything else in the comp let it, id say get more ram and try to get all high

i would start with another gig because it helps with the laggyness/stuttering, and if u like it, then dont buy the 7800gtx. im also guessing that ur 7600gt is agp cuz its with an old P4, so id wait until u upgrade ur whole computer b4 upgrading the 7600gt cuz agp is practically going to be extinct soon

Ok so like i had imagined another stick of ram would help me, about the video card it is APG, has 256MB of memory, wonder if it can handle high after i have 2GB of ram.

1Gig should be fine..Remember, dont use Anti Antlizing or whatever lol..Stutters abit too much.

also, set ur agp aperture to 256mb in ur bios. that can help with stuttering. in fact just google like bf2 optimization guide and follow those

I've got:
P4 3GHzHiper Threaded processor
2GB DDR (400MHz) memory
(AGP) Radeon X1950Pro with 512MB of RAM
a 460W Antech Powersupply
80Gig SATA drive 7200 RPM and 8MB cash

I run Battlefield 2 at all of the highest settings with absolutly no problems. I may upgrade to 4GB of memory just for the Heck of it, since my board can handle it.

Yeah but your OS can't so don't waste the money on the extra memory to get to 4 gig

I too also am getting another Gig of RAM; finally can play with more than half-decent graphics. But I first have to get my D:/ fixed -.-

get the 7900 GS Extreme from XFX gives me awesome frames at all maxed 1400X1050 res :)

well you could spend money on a better computer and an amazing video card...

...or you could suck it up and play on low like i do.
